Just as I was getting ready for Makar Sankranti celebration, a thought crossed my mind...why do we wear black on this festival?

Turns out it's not a random tradition but one layered with many beliefs.

Makar Sankranti marks a pivotal astronomical transition; the sun moves from the southern hemisphere (Dakshinayana) to the northern hemisphere (Uttarayana).

Wearing black symbolises acknowledging the darkness we're leaving behind. There are many other reasons too..honoring and celebrating Mother earth’s bounty, warding off negativity, balancing of energies…

No matter what your reason for wearing black today is, here's wishing you all a very Happy Makar Sankranti and best wishes for new beginnings!!💐🎊

It is said that teaching is one profession that creates all other professions.

Well, it’s no surprise then that the theme of Teacher's Day 2025 is "Inspiring the Next Generation of Learners". This theme brings into focus the enormous contribution of teachers not only towards academic learning but also towards motivating learners to follow their interests and be creative, strong and confident thus propelling them towards achieving their dreams across different professions.

I was hit by the fact that joy lies in simple things when I found my old crotchet kit, something that I loved doing as a kid. Tried do a couple of little amigurumi’s.🐳🐠

What I realized was that we should once in a while pull ourselves away from the day to day grind and do something what once was a favorite hobby as a child …maybe listen to old favorite songs, play an instrument we used to as a kid or even re-read a book that made us stay up in the night. It’s definitely going to bring a nostalgic feeling putting us back in our happy place.

The fact that the both my crotchet attempts turned out ok…is definitely a plus 😁
