The Computer Science Club, SymTek hosted an exciting MYP Hackathon where our brilliant MYP 3 students took on the challenge of solving a series of coding problems — all within just one hour!
From logic puzzles to algorithmic thinking, it was an hour of innovation, teamwork, and pure tech energy. The Hackathon brought a wave of excitement as students stepped into the world of hands-on programming. The event was a student-led initiative which took charge of designing and coordinating the entire experience right from scratch alongside the Diploma Program CS Facilitator Nancy Ma’am.
Held in a high-energy, timed format, the hackathon challenged participants to solve up to 25 coding problems within just one hour. The questions, rooted in key concepts from their Digital Design classes, encouraged students to apply their classroom knowledge in creative and practical ways. What truly stood out was the atmosphere—focused, collaborative, and full of determination. Students supported one another, thought critically, and demonstrated remarkable resilience, even when faced with challenging problems. More than just a competition, the hackathon served as a platform for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom while building essential skills like teamwork, time management, and perseverance.
