Our mini forest at Latur has grown significantly in almost a years period.


Small forest patches really help in the protecting and propogating of local biodiversity and also improves the soil health and groundwater seepage in that area.

*GAIA 2018 CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHY*

We at the Environmental Science department of Fergusson college are hosting a photography _Exhibition cm competition_ for the students.

We get to learn a wide range of topics related to environment everyday. From smallest of organisms to greatest of ecosystems, each and everything has something to say about the environment. In this competition, we give you the chance to express your thoughts through a photograph and a tale with it. Show us what's hidden in those memory cards and express the thoughts behind the view-finder.

You can choose any photograph associated with a topic like -
_1) Conservation in the concrete jungles_
_2) Community and Wildlife_
_3) Our Natural Treasures_
_4) Encounter with the Endangered_

and submit your entry with a suitable description of about a paragraph which may include your vision behind the photograph or the story behind the capture. Choice is yours!

*How to participate*

● *Submit a hard copy of the image you want to submit of the size 8"×10" (preferably matte finish) with the description typed in "Times New Roman" on a A4 size paper @ E.V.S Department to any one of the coordinators*

● *Visit on the Festival Day to see your image on display and interact with like minded shutterbugs.*

Terms & Conditions
1) Image and writeup should be original creation of the participant.
2) Hard copy should be of the size - 8" × 10" and should be submitted with the description. Submitting only one of these won't be allowed.
3) Basic photo processing is allowed, but manipulation of the digital copy won't be tolerated.
4) Entire purpose of the competition is to bring out positive thoughts about environment through photographs and writeups so plagarized entries wont be tolerated.

The Environmental Science Department of Fergusson College, in association with the GAIA team, turned up on a cold winter morning at 7 AM on 17th December 2015, to clean the river bank. We had a fantastic attendance of nearly 350 people. Thank you one and all for turning up for the cleanliness drive. Please tag yourself and your friends. :)
