Had been to RIT Engineering College to speak on '𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗧𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀.'

I had a wonderful experience of being back to college days and 23 years of career was like a flashback.

2 hrs of interaction with young and ignited minds was inspiring.

I covered 3 topics,
1 # Vital skills that will be always in demand.
2 # Scientific Thinking, and
3 # PROPASSION.

My conversation with my mom

I was carrying my book printout for final proofreading and had the following conversation with my Mom.

Mom - “How is your book going?”

Me - “fine. Almost done.”

Mom - “What's the name of the book?”

Me - “Identity beyond 9- 5”

Mom - She said “hmm. Identity.”

And she shared the below story.

One old couple used to visit the bank for pension and regular banking stuff.
Aunty used to take the lead to fill forms, slips for withdrawal and deposits.

The man at the counter enjoys the discussion between this old couple. Aunty would tell the counter person that uncle doesn't know anything about banking, he is not particular etc.

After few days, aunty passed away, and uncle came to the bank. The person at the counter felt sad on hearing this news.

Knowing uncle for so many years and his knowledge about banking, the person at the counter approached uncle and said he would do the paperwork and no need to worry.

Uncle said, don't worry, I will do it. The person at the counter got curious to see how uncle would manage.

He was surprised to see that, uncle did it quite well and good job, in fact, better than aunty

He could not stop himself and asked uncle, “how did you learn so quickly?”

Uncle said “I knew this from the beginning.”

“Then why did you not tell aunty about this? She unnecessarily thought that you were dumb and absent-minded.”

Uncle said “I know what she was thinking. And my behaviour was allowing her to think and feel that she had a reason to live. A reason to add value to my life. A reason that because of her, my work is getting done or what will happen to me, if she was not there. It was her Identity.”

My mom told me the essence of my book in 2 mins. Wow!

We all need a reason to live for and that becomes our IDENTITY.

We always have a choice to choose a reason for living and the book is all about this.

Most of the professionals keep learning new skills hoping that it will give them boost in career.
This is good but its a short term approach.

Also learn something which you like to do and love to do. Master it - this long term approach.
