Tagore Day was celebrated at Universal Wisdom School to salute the philosopher, social reformer and patriot, Rabindranath Tagore. He believed that the highest education does not merely give us information, but that makes our life in harmony with all existence. A character parade, tongue twisters, hieroglyphics and Egyptian cartouche-making were some of the activities conducted. During reflection, students described reading as a form of prayer, a guided meditation leading them into a world of imagination. It also helps them reduce loneliness, thus feeding their soul as every word has POWER.

Taking inspiration from the most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, all our activities were conducted in and around the pool. Tele games, volleyball, and fun races were all part of the happenings. Our fervent swimmers realized that to excel they need to be courageous, committed, determined, and constantly persevere to improve their skills. In the words of Michael Phelps, “You can’t put a limit on anything. The more your dream, the farther you get.”

'All the World’s a Stage’, so play on… was the theme selected on Theatre Day at Universal Wisdom School, Balewadi, to honour the greatest writer and the world's pre-eminent dramatist - William Shakespeare. From drizzle to thunderstorm, our enthusiastic dramatists changed the shapes of their bodies, connecting the Mind, Body, and Soul. Improvisation, expression, and collaboration skills were on full display! At UWS, we offer numerous podiums for students to discover their innate talents, and in the words of William Shakespeare, “We know what we are, but know not what we may be.”

Music is an integral form of expression encouraged at Universal Wisdom School, Balewadi. Inspired by the greatest composer of all time, Mozart, activities based on instrumental and body percussion, concepts of rhythm, aural rhythmic games, and rhythm synchronization filled the air with melody. Students could express themselves confidently and were encouraged by our music team to reach new heights of artistic achievements.

As we approach the end of the first academic session at Universal Wisdom School, Balewadi, we have planned a host of creative and fun activities for our students. We took inspiration from the Spanish tennis player, Rafael Nadal, and conducted sporting activities that involved a lot of endurance. These activities helped students realise that rising to the top isn’t easy – it involves hard work, dedication, bouncing back after setbacks, and just moving forward. In the words of Rafael Nadal himself, “I’ve learned in my career to enjoy suffering”.

In our pursuit to encourage collaboration across cultures and languages, we were pleased to welcome Ms. Peony Sengupta and Ms. Meenal Moghe from the Alliance Française, Pune. They conducted an interesting session on the French artist Henri Matisse that reinforced the love for art. This was followed by a trip to the French Library, where an introductory vocabulary session was designed to make it interesting for all. We also had Ms. Amelie Weigel, Director at Alliance Française, Pune join us. The activities were vibrant and colourful; truly a ‘voyage scolaire'!

A new year, fresh dreams, new hopes and beginnings!

Gudi Padwa was celebrated with exuberance and fanfare at Universal Wisdom School. The activities helped students explore their hidden talents, discover new areas of interest, and comprehend the true essence of this festival. They joined hands and prayed that the entire year be filled with new joys and adventures.

The festival of Holi symbolises the victory of good over evil, happiness over sadness and truth over lies. This festival’s true essence and spirit was beautifully depicted in a short skit performed by the students. They realised that the splashing of colours signifies a promise of being truthful and faithful. It maeans maintaining strong bonds of brotherhood and highlights the importance of showering our family, teachers, and fellow students with all the possible love, thus creating vibrant canvases for each of us in this journey called LIFE. Universal Wisdom School wishes everyone a happy and safe Holi!

We were pleased to welcome Ms. Amelie Weigel, Director at Alliance Française de Pune and Mr. Prashanth Palanimalai, Attaché for Cooperation in French Language (West India) French Institute in India, to our school campus. At Universal Wisdom School, we enthusiastically encourage collaboration across cultures and languages so that our students gain exposure and experience, preparing them to be future global citizens. Several areas of cooperation were identified, including the French language development and DELF exams in the School. Our students and faculty members will soon visit the Alliance Française de Pune and participate in many cultural activities.

On Republic Day, we came together as a nation to celebrate the birth of our Republic and to honor the Constitution and the values it represents. The love for India was evident in the patriotic dance and song displays by the students. They pledged to honor the legacy of our founding fathers and take inspiration from the past and work towards a better future on Republic Day.

After the winter break, our students have been immersed in preliminary research on the harvest festivals of India - Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Bihu, and Lohri. The celebrations were planned and executed by the students, which began with a prayer, presentations, and a video. It was during reflection that they realized that despite the differences in weather, region, and customs, we are all intertwined in this awesome kaleidoscope called India!

Before the School closed for the Christmas and new year holidays, we indulged in some fun games and activities. The students participated with much excitement and enthusiasm, with our teachers cheering them on. It was, indeed, a fun day!

Christmas is the happiest time of the year. At UWS, we celebrated Christmas in the most fun and memorable way. The day began with a great storytelling session on the Christmas Miracle, followed by our students and teachers sharing their Christmas traditions. And what's Christmas without Santa? Santa Claus distributed gifts to everyone; yes, everyone! The day ended with children and teachers singing Christmas carols.

We wish our students, staff, and their families a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

There were Ganesha idols made using modelling clay, and shadhu mitti and the 'Modak' were made out of a special recipe. Here is a peek into their festive day.
