The Leaders of tomorrow

SIMC, in association with Teach For India, hosted the children of Appa Jadhav PMC school on our campus. It was a fun filled day that included a variety of activities right from watching short animated films, to spending time in the chroma studio, singing and dancing and finally ending the day with a tour of the campus. We were delighted to see the children smiling as they left the campus at the end of the day.

In the world of football.
Some really critical cricket fan :)

When asked who is your role model?
Dilshan (4th grade) - Rohit Sharma
When asked why? His answer was simple - "Didi he never gives up!"
Being a huge cricket fan and Math wizard Dilshan can just think about now he will go and watch an old test match after going back home and solve Math using runs, scores, averages and overs.
Dilshan never thinks about how small is house or road is? All he thinks about is how to improve his game and Math. One thing I learnt from him no matter even if you don't have amenities, roads, bat or ground or a coach to guide you. You are your teacher :)

You need to channelize their energy to bring out something productive for them and for yourself. Meditation before class in my co-fellows class Atma Dinnie Charles .
She cannot imagine her day without planning for her kids and her perfection drives the perfection in her kids.
She believes "If you want your kids to be the best, you need to start believing that for yourself. If you are the best, your kids will learn that from you". Something that I have been learning from her. Everyday!

They want a place where they are safe,
They want a place where they are happy,
They want a place where they can be themselves,
They want a place where they will get love,
They want a place where they can learn,
They want a place where they can make mistakes,
They want a place where they can grow,
They want a place where there are people like us.
And we just want that place to be their school :)

Rohan and Fazal have just become best friends because they travel 9km everyday in the bus to come to school.
Fazal loves snakes because he has seen snakes all around while growing up. He looks for snakes when he is upset. While Rohan's one room house is filled with his beautiful drawings and paintings of things that make him happy.
I had never known their potential until I walked into their normal days. Which has now become my normal days.
As I walk into their life my heart is filled with pride by watching every step they take with independence and confidence but the thought that disturbs me is - Who is there to guide them? What if they misuse this independence?. Yet to discover those answers.
