Dr Gradlin Roy, a 39-year-old consultant surgeon at Saveetha Medical , in , collapsed during ward rounds on Wednesday and died despite desperate efforts to save him. According to Dr Sudhir Kumar, a Hyderabad-based neurologist, Dr Roy’s colleagues immediately launched an intensive rescue attempt. “Colleagues fought valiantly — CPR, urgent angioplasty with stenting, intra-aortic balloon pump, even ECMO. But nothing could reverse the damage from a massive cardiac arrest due to a 100% left main artery blockage,” Dr Kumar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

We Demand Liberalisation of the Salary System at Par with Other UTs of India.
We Will Fight Tooth and Nail Against This Injustice. 💪
📢 Thousands of government employees across Jammu & Kashmir are expressing deep anger and resentment over the unauthorised deduction of TWO loan instalments in a single month by J&K Bank – without any prior notice or consent!
🏦 This blatant financial overreach, done without transparency, has caused widespread distress, affecting families already struggling with inflation, price hikes, and medical/educational expenses.
🔴 Such unilateral actions violate banking norms, breach ethical standards, and shatter public trust. Government employees are being treated not as valued customers but as captive account holders – which is unacceptable in a democratic country.
📌 Over 4 Lakh employees in J&K receive salaries only through J&K Bank – a monopoly that is proving harmful. Unlike other Union Territories, we are denied the freedom to choose our salary bank. This must end NOW.

👉 We Demand Immediate Action from the UT Administration:
✅ Freedom to choose any nationalised or recognised private bank (SBI, PNB, HDFC, ICICI, etc.) for salary credit
✅ Parity with other UTs where employees are free to choose their salary bank
✅ Investigation into the unauthorised double deductions
✅ Refund of excess EMIs with interest + formal apology from J&K Bank
✅ Action against responsible bank officials
✅ Transparent, employee-friendly loan policies with consent mechanisms
⚠️ If timely corrective action is not taken, we will be forced to launch a strong public agitation to protect our rights.
