Natya Kala Vidyalaya is bringing out a rare opportunity of learning Kandyan through zoom over 2 days workshop from none other than the best Kandyan dancers of world, Shamitha Hettige

Kandyan is a Srilankan traditional dance form known for its energetic and powerful movements poised with grace and elegance. The unique body rhythm of this dance form is one of a kind and makes one enjoy dance.

About Shamitha Hettige :

SHAMITHA RUCHIRAN HETTIGE is an established Kandyan and contemporary dancer, performer & teacher.
Shamitha began his dance training at the age of 9, under the legendary dancers Channa Wijewardana and Upuli Panibharatha. His trainings range from traditional Kandyan, modern dance and French ballet techniques.
Shamitha has been lauded for his flawless & geometrically fine jumps rooting from Kandyan and other traditional dance forms of Srilanka.
Ever since the age of 16, he has represented the country and Channa upuli dance troupe at more than 60 countries and prestigious venues.

This workshop will be on the introduction of the style with the basic movements of Kandyan .
A short dance sequence will be taught on the 2nd day of the workshop.
Do join us and experience the beautiful dance form of Srilanka.
