During the second week of August Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H) organized Mobile Medical Unit Camps at Ramapuram & Vazhisodhanaipalayam, Thangalikuppam & Ramanathankuppam, and Silambimangalam & Aandaar Mullipallam. These camps provided essential medical screening, primary healthcare consultations, and referral services to underserved communities, benefiting a total of 75 beneficiaries.

In addition, AVMC&H conducted several Specialty Outreach Camps at its Satellite Centres. These included a Dentistry Specialty Camp at Pachaiyankuppam Satellite Centre, a Pain & Palliative Care Specialty Camp at Nellikuppam Satellite Centre, a Dermatology Specialty Camp at Kandarakottai Satellite Centre, and a General Surgery Specialty Camp at Panruti Satellite Centre.

Furthermore, AVMC&H organized a General Medical Camp at Achariya College of Engineering Technology, Villianur, Puducherry, on 13.08.2026. The multidisciplinary camp offered screening services for diabetes and hypertension and provided consultations through the Departments of General Medicine, Dermatology, Dentistry, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology, benefiting 97 participants.

These outreach initiatives enabled community members to access quality healthcare services, expert consultations, early diagnosis, and appropriate referral support closer to their homes. Patients requiring advanced evaluation and treatment were referred to AVMC&H for further management.

🍼📚 World Breastfeeding Week 2026 – CME Programme

As part of the World Breastfeeding Week 2026 celebrations, the Departments of Paediatrics and Community Medicine, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H), in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Puducherry, organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme on Breastfeeding on 7 August 2026.

🌿 Conducted under the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works,” the programme highlighted the importance of evidence-based breastfeeding practices and strengthening support systems for mothers and infants.

🎓 The CME featured expert sessions covering key topics, including myths and facts about breastfeeding, the benefits of breast milk, breastfeeding positioning, otitis media, and transient neonatal dermatoses.

The Departments of Community Medicine and Pediatrics of Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H) organized the *World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2026* on *6 August 2026* at the *Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Chinnakanganankuppam*, under the theme:

*“Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”*

👶 The programme featured *Healthy Baby* and *Healthy Recipe Competitions*, encouraging mothers and families to adopt optimal breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices.

🎤 The event included an inaugural ceremony, expert addresses, and health awareness sessions on *breastfeeding, infant nutrition, maternal health, and child health*, delivered by faculty members and postgraduate residents from the Departments of Community Medicine and Pediatrics.

🏆 The programme concluded with *prize distribution* for the Healthy Baby and Healthy Recipe competitions, with enthusiastic participation from mothers and children.

World Breastfeeding Week 2026 – Awareness Programme

As part of World Breastfeeding Week 2026, Dr. Bhuvaneshwary, Assistant Professor, conducted an awareness session on the importance of breastfeeding and optimal breastfeeding practices at St. Joseph’s College, Cuddalore, on 5 August 2026.

👩‍🍼 The session highlighted the importance of breastfeeding in promoting maternal and child health, with enthusiastic participation from the students and faculty members of the institution.

🏅 Adding a special moment to the occasion, Mr. Murugan, Medical Social Worker, AVMC&H, was honoured by St. Joseph’s College as a Distinguished Alumnus in recognition of his achievements and contributions.
