The Department of Philosophy in collaboration with the RDI Cell and IQAC oraganised a talk titled, "Identifying the limitations of a theory: An approach to critical research methodology" by Senior Research Fellow at the School of Sanskrit, Philosophy and Indic Studies, Goa University, Mr. Sagar Yadav.

The Principal of the college, Dr. Vikas Pissulekar, Dr.Anjali Mohan Rao and Dr.Alvita deSouza (incharge of RDI Cell, Social Sciences), were the dignitaries on the dais. The event was also attended by Ms.Ruksanabanu Angadi and Ms.Siya Sangodkar (faculty members from the Department of Philosophy).

Mr.Yadav's talk focussed on challenging ancient theories and questioning their validity in contemporary times. He mainly spoke about the theory of purushartha, its origins and the wide implications it has on the Indian Society.

He also kindled the interests of the students in looking at the inter-relations between Indian Philosophies and their Western counterparts.

The theory of Purushartha, being a socio-moral theory which has guided systems of Indian thought from a long time needs a re-interpretation, considering the its inability to fight the problems of current day society, he claimed.

In the light of this, he encouraged students to take up research which questioned Orthodox systems of thought, rather than accepting them as they are.

The event was hosted by Ms.Khushi Naik(T.Y.B.A), Ms.Purva Alawni (F.Y.B.A), introduced the speaker, and Ms.Tanzila Shah(S.Y.B.A.) delivered the vote of Thanks.
