Structure of the Chart

Rows (C, A, G, E, D):
These represent the 5 basic open chord shapes (C, A, G, E, D). The system is called CAGED because of these shapes.
On the fretboard, these shapes can be moved up to form chords, arpeggios, and scales in any key.

Columns:

1. Chord → Shows the movable chord form for each shape.

2. Arpeggio → Notes of the chord (Root, 3rd, 5th).

3. Major Scale → Full diatonic scale pattern (do, re, mi, etc.).

4. Major Pentatonic Scale → Simplified version (5-note scale).

🔹 Symbols

R (Root) = The tonal center (key note, e.g., C in C major).

p5 = Perfect 5th.

3 (or ♮3) = Major 3rd.

Numbers like 2, 4, 6, 7 = Scale degrees (relative to the major scale).

🔹 How to Use the Chart

1. Pick a key (say G major).

2. Locate the root note (R) on the fretboard.

3. Choose a shape (C, A, G, E, or D).

4. Play either:

The Chord (static harmony)

The Arpeggio (notes of that chord)

The Major Scale (7-note scale)

The Pentatonic (5-note simplified scale)

By connecting these 5 shapes across the neck, you can play the major scale and chords anywhere on the fretboard.

👉 This method is called "Rhythmic Syllables with Food Words" and is popular in beginner music education. It makes rhythm more fun and memorable because students can "speak the rhythm" by saying the food names.
