Vibrant Teej Celebrations at RIET, Phagwara
Ramgarhia Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET), Phagwara, celebrated the vibrant Punjabi festival ‘Teeyan Da Mela’ with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mrs. Manpreet Kaur Bhogal, Chairperson, Ramgarhia Educational Council (REC), in the presence of Director REC, Dr. Vyoma Bhogal Dhatt, Co-Director REC, Mrs. Ravneet Bhogal Kalra, Principal RIMAS Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, and Principal RIHSR Mrs. Mandeep Kaur. Mrs. Bhogal encouraged students to remain connected with their rich cultural heritage.
The campus was beautifully transformed into a traditional Punjabi village with heritage stalls showcasing Phulkari, Punjabi Juttis, bangles, parandas, traditional utensils, spinning wheels, and lanterns, along with a colourful Teej photo booth.
The celebrations featured singing, group dances, skits, Bhangra, Giddha, modelling, and a paranda-braiding competition. Yogita and Taniya won the paranda-braiding contest by completing it in just 40 seconds. Gomti won Miss Teej, Lovleen won Best Talent, and Ashima won Sohna Pehrawa.
The event was organised under the supervision of Women Grievance Cell heads Er. Bharti Nahar and Er. Kirandeep Kaur. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates and a vote of thanks by Er. Bharti Nahar, Training & Placement Officer, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and students for making the celebration a memorable success.
