NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara Celebrates International Yoga Day

Under the able leadership of Dr. Savinder Pal, Director Academics, and Dr. Ruminder Kaur, Officiating Principal, the NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and fervour. The celebration was organized in accordance with the theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” which emphasizes the importance of adopting yoga as a way of life to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and healthy ageing across all age groups.
On the occasion, NSS volunteers performed various yoga asanas and actively participated in the programme, highlighting the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being. The volunteers were also acquainted with the history and significance of International Yoga Day and informed that it is observed every year on 21 June to create awareness about the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga and to inspire people across the globe to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Around 55 NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the celebration and performed different yoga asanas with great zeal, discipline, and concentration.

Addressing the students, Dr. Savinder Pal and Dr. Ruminder Kaur emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for achieving a healthy and balanced lifestyle. They appreciated the dedicated efforts of NSS Programme Officers Ms. Nidhi Jassal and Dr. Tavisha, along with the enthusiastic participation of the NSS volunteers, in making the celebration a grand success.

Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara Concludes Six-Day Summer Camp with Educational Trip to Kartarpur

The six-day Summer Camp organized by Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara concluded on a memorable note with an educational trip to Kartarpur. Nearly 58 students participated in the trip under the supervision of faculty members Ms. Khushi, Ms. Simranjeet, and Ms. Preeti Markanda.
As part of the excursion, the students visited the Jang-e-Azadi Memorial, where they explored the rich history of India's freedom struggle through informative galleries, exhibits, and audio-visual presentations. The visit provided students with an opportunity to connect with the sacrifices and achievements of the nation's freedom fighters, making the experience both educational and inspiring.
Following the visit, the participants enjoyed lunch at Bombay Vegetarian. The trip offered students a perfect blend of learning, recreation, and cultural enrichment while fostering camaraderie among participants.
The educational trip marked the successful culmination of the six-day Summer Camp, which featured a variety of engaging activities aimed at enhancing students' creativity, communication skills, environmental awareness, and overall personality development.
Dr. Savinder Pal, Director Academics, and Dr. Ruminder Kaur, Officiating Principal, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and commended the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee for making the summer camp a grand success. Special appreciation was extended to the organizing team, comprising Dr. Rinka and Ms. Anjali Walia, for their meticulous planning, coordination, and commitment throughout the six-day programme.
The camp concluded with students carrying home valuable experiences, new learnings, and cherished memories, reflecting the college's commitment to providing holistic and experiential learning opportunities.

ECO Club of Kamla Nehru College for Women Celebrated World Environment Day

On 4th and 5th June 2026, the ECO Club celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Savinder Pal, Director Academics, and Dr. Ruminder Kaur, Officiating Principal. The activities were successfully led by Dr. Priyanka Aeri, Nodal Officer, Eco Club, and coordinated by Dr. Tavisha Singh, Coordinator, Eco Club.

The two-day celebration aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly practices. A variety of engaging activities were organized in the college lawns and botanical garden to mark the occasion.

Students enthusiastically participated in a Poster Making Competition, expressing their concerns and ideas regarding environmental conservation through creative artwork. They also showcased their innovation and commitment to nature by preparing Bird Feeders using eco-friendly and recyclable materials. In addition, students actively participated in the Hanging of Eco-friendly Bird Nests across the campus to support and protect local bird populations.

Dr. Ruminder Kaur (Offg. Principal) appreciated the efforts of the ECO Club and as a meaningful step towards promoting environmental conservation, she supported the initiative took by ECO Club to have the eco-friendly bird feeders and bird nests installed across the college campus. She emphasized that such initiatives not only beautify the surroundings but also foster a sense of responsibility towards nature among students.

Red Ribbon Club , ECO Club and Department of Science Celebrate World Environment Day

The Red Ribbon Club and the Department of Science of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, jointly celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students. The event was organized under the theme "Inspired by Nature for Climate, Future" to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among the youth.
A variety of engaging activities were conducted, including Debate Competition, Poster Making Competition, Best Out of Waste Activity, and Plantation Drive. The participants showcased their creativity, awareness, and commitment towards environmental conservation through thought-provoking posters, innovative recycled products, and insightful debates on contemporary environmental issues.
The Plantation Drive served as a major attraction of the event, where students planted saplings in the college lawns and pledged to contribute towards a greener and healthier environment. Through these activities, students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of environmental protection and sustainable living.
A total of 60 students actively participated in the event, making it a grand success. The enthusiasm displayed by the participants reflected their concern for environmental issues and their willingness to take positive action for the planet.
The event was organized under the guidance of Ms. Priyanka Mankhand & Ms. Khushi, Incharges of the Red Ribbon Club and ECO Club incharges,Dr Priyanka Aeri and Dr Tavisha who motivated the students to become responsible citizens and environmental stewards.
Dr. Savinder Pal, Director Academics, encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits and contribute towards sustainable development. Dr. Ruminder Kaur, Officiating Principal, appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants and emphasized the need for collective action to address environmental challenges.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect nature and work collectively for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
