DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACY PRACTICE
The mission of the Department of Pharmacy Practice in Al Shifa hospital is to
1) Prepare students for entry into the pharmacy profession in an environment that supports and inspires critical thinking, life-long learning, leadership and professionalism
2) Create and disseminate knowledge related to the rational use, delivery and access to drugs and other therapeutic

modalities and 3)Provide service and leadership to the university community, the profession of pharmacy and the public related to education and the optimal use of medications
About the Department:
The Department of Pharmacy Practice is an academic department of Al Shifa College of Pharmacy in Al Shifa Hospital, Perinthalmanna under KUHS. The mission of the Department of Pharmacy Practice is to demonstrate excellence through performance in the areas of discovery, learning, and engagement. The Department of Pharmacy Practice supports the College of Pharmacy's vision by:
* Providing education to students that enable them to acquire in-depth expertise in the pharmaceutical, social/economic management, and related sciences in order to function as educators and scientists in higher education, government service, and the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
* Serving the community by engaging in scholarly activities that lead to improvements in healthcare delivery and enhance health outcomes
* Fostering innovation in research through interdisciplinary collaboration with other schools/colleges within other national/international universities, and pharmacy practitioners to enhance to profession body of knowledge resulting in practice advancement

Global Immersion Programme 2026 – A Proud Moment!
As part of the Global Immersion Programme 2026, Dr. Sruthi H, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, along with 4 Pharm D students and 1 B Pharm student, visited Quest International University, Malaysia, from April 2nd to April 10th.
During this enriching international training programme, participants explored diverse aspects of pharmacy practice, gaining valuable global exposure and practical insights. The experience not only broadened their academic perspectives but also enhanced their professional competencies in a global healthcare setting.
The department is proud of our team for representing the institution at an international platform and bringing back knowledge that will inspire many more.

Three first-year Pharm D students, of ACP , (Aysha K, Anagha A, and Amreen Ameer), participated in the five-day Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Boot Camp – Edition 3 (Phase I), held from 6th to 10th April 2026 at Shivamogga, Karnataka. The program was organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and AICTE in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation and SBI Foundation.

The students of D.Pharm 1st Year attended a field visit to KIMS Al Shifa Hospital on 17th March 2026 as part of their practical curriculum organised by department of pharmacy practice. The program focused on providing hands-on training in Basic Life Support (BLS), emergency management, and water purification techniques. The session on Basic Life Support (BLS) and emergency treatment was conducted by the hospital’s emergency medical team.Dr.Hafis leaded the session. The students received detailed practical training on BLS procedures, including step-by-step demonstrations and individual hands-on practice. The team also explained the management of various emergency situations, enhancing the students’ understanding of real-life clinical responses. In the afternoon session, training on water purification techniques was conducted by Mr. Shiju facility engineer. He provided a comprehensive overview of different water purification methods and explained the functioning of the hospital’s water treatment plant. The session helped students gain insight into the importance of water quality in healthcare settings.
