புதிய கல்மரத்துண்டு கண்டறியப்பட்டது

பெரம்பலூர் மாவட்டம்,சாத்தனூர் குடிக்காடு ,செல்லேரி அருகில் உள்ள முருகேசன்-சரிதா வயலின் வரப்புக்கரையில் 12 கோடி ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் தோன்றிய கல்லாகிய மரத்துண்டு ஒன்று கண்டறியப்பட்டுள்ளது.
95 சென்டிமீட்டர் நீளமும்,44சென்டிமீட்டர் சுற்றளவும் கொண்ட கல்மரத்துண்டு கண்டறியப்பட்டது.
194௦ ஆம் ஆண்டில் எம்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணன் என்ற புவியியல் ஆய்வாளர் 18 மீட்டர் கொண்ட கல்மரத்தை கண்டறிந்தார்.அது தேசிய கல்மரப் பூங்கா என்ற பெயரில் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
தற்போது சாத்தனூர் பஞ்சாயத்திற்கு உட்பட்ட குடிக்காடு கிராமத்தில் கிடைத்து உள்ளது.சுற்று வட்டார பகுதிகளில் நிறைய மரத்துண்டுகள் கிடைக்கப் பெற்றாலும் அண்மையில் ஒரு மீட்டர் நீளமுடைய மரத்துண்டு இப்போது கிடைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது .சாத்தனூர் குடிக்காடு ஊராட்சி மன்ற உறுப்பினர் சுகுமார் ,மற்றும் உள்ளூர் இளைஞர்கள் ராமஜெயம்,பூவழகன் ஆகியோர் உடன் இருந்தனர்.சுற்றுச்சூழல் செயற்பட்டாளர் இரமேஷ் கருப்பையா பார்வையிட்டனர்.கல்மரம் குறித்த செய்தி புவியியல் துறைக்கு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.விரைவில் சாத்தனூர் தேசிய கல்மரப்பூங்காவில் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டு பாதுகாக்கப்பட உள்ளது.

Pictures from National Fossil Wood Park -Sathanur 04-Dec-2014.

A very happy moment - to take time off to visit the place with family. This is one of my favourite place, which I visited with friends & classmates. We had lot of fun on visiting along with schoolmates. In those days, we could walk or cycle to this location from the connecting village road. Discovered (Found) and guarded by 3 generations now.

A new begining in the last 3 years to this site. District collector and other administrative officials understood the importance of this fossil, laid tar road and constructed a guest house for the visitors. Now, visitors can drive to this location in breeze and relax in the middle of thriving agricultural lands. Best to visit in the months of Oct,Nov and December, in order to enjoy 100% greenery.

Thanks to the administrators for the newly build facilities.

This fossil will stay in history as long as mankind lives in earth. Please do your part to NOT to damage or pick any samples. We have generations to come & visit and let us presserve it...
