Marian College, Kuttikkanam

It offers graduate level and post graduate level courses for students. The Catholic Diocese of Kanjirapally established Marian College Kuttikkanam in 1995 to provide the student community with education in information technology, commerce, social work and management. Kottayam granted provisional affiliation to the college on March 10, 1995. Jose Varickamackal took charge as the Administrator and Bursar of the college in March,1995. Rev.Dr.W.T.Philips took charge as the first principal of the college on July 14, 1995. In the beginning, eight lectures and twelve administrative staff were recruited to run the college. On August 11, 1995 classes started for the first batch with 180 students belonging to three undergraduate courses: BCA, BBA and B.Com. Rev. Fr.Jose Varickamakal, the first Bursar of the college was the key figure in the realisation of the college building. For a short period, the college office functioned at the Peermade Parish Presbytery, where Rev.Fr.Jose stayed for a short while. The Present MMH Building,the first building constructed for the college, hosted the B.Com and BBA Classes and the present food production lab was the college library. The present Gymnasium then served as the classroom for BCA. In 1996, on the completion of the first floor of the present academic block, all classes were shifted to that building. At present, there are 892 students studying in Marian, There are more than 90 faculty and office personnel. More than 75 % of the students stay in the hostels and around the campus
