Professor and Former Head, Department of English, Patna University Dr Arjun Kumar on the occasion of International Women's Day, organized a felicitation ceremony for the Outsourcing Women Staff and other women Non-teaching Staff of Darbhanga House by offering them Angvastaram and a Pen in presence of the Professor and Head, Department of English, Patna University, Dr Stuti Prasad. He also emphasized on the need for upliftment of the condition of women in our country and particularly in the State, Bihar. He motivated them and appreciated their efforts with his words. On the occasion Head, Department of English, Magadh Mahila College, Patna University Dr Archana Jaiswal, Dr Anchit Pandey, Guest Faculty in the Department of English, Research Scholar and the students of M.A. second and fourth semester were present.

On 31st January 2025, A Guest lecture was organized by the Department of English, Patna University, Patna on the Topic- "Upanishads and the Emergence of Philosophy and Aesthetics in the West". The lecture was delivered by the Chief Speaker Dr Bhavatosh Indra Guru, Senior Professor, Department of English and Other European Languages, Dr H.S. Gaur Central University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Guest for the programme was Dr Shiva Jatan Thakur, former Member BPSC and former Head and Professor, Department of English, Patna University, Patna. Dr Arjun Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of English, Patna University was the chairperson for the said programme and he spoke very critically about the role of Vedas and Upanishads in our life. He also spoke about the Indian Knowledge System and how it influenced the Western Philosophers. He also presented Certificate of Appreciation to Dr Bhavatosh Indra Guru, for his enlightening session during the Refreshers Course in English, organized by the Department of English, Patna University in association with UGC- Malviya Mission Teacher's Training Centre, Patna University, Patna in the month of February, 2024. Dr Stuti Prasad, Professor, Department of English, Patna University, Dr Vibash Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Dr Ramhit Chaupal, Assistant Professor, and Heads of different Departments, Faculty members from different Departments, Research Scholar and the students of M.A. third semester were also present.

Today on 28th January 2025, Head, Department of English, Patna University, Patna has inaugurated the Departmental Library and also distributed prizes for Essay writing competition, Slogan Writing, Quiz competition, Extempore Speech, organized in the Month of October 2024 to raise awareness against Anti-Ragging. The Chief Guest for the above-mentioned Programme was Prof. Dr Shiva Jatan Thakur, Former Head, Department of English, Former Member (BPSC). Dr Arjun Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of English, Patna University has spoke at length about the importance of library and possession of book in our life. He thanked Dr Stuti Prasad, Professor, Department of English, Patna University and librarian Sangeeta Ji for their efforts and hard work in bringing the library functional. On this special occasion Dr Vibhash Ranjan (Assistant Professor), Dr Ramhit Chaupal (Assistant Professor), JRFs- Priya Sikha, Aditya Saket, Mukesh Dayal and Research Scholars- Kumari Nihalini, Arushi and others were present.

Department of English, Patna University has organized a guest lecture on the Topic- "Writing Academic Papers and the process of Selecting Journals". The lecture was delivered by one of the most renowned academician Prof. Dr Smita Jha, IIT Roorkee, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Chief Guest of the session was Dr Shiv Jatan Thakur, Former Professor and Head, Department of English, Patna University and former Member BPSC. Department of English, Patna University Patna has participated in the Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme as initiated by UGC and as per the order of Patna University, Anti-Ragging Committee from 12th August 2024 to 18th August 2024.

Department of English Patna University, Patna has participated in the campaign initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India on 14 August 2024.

Induction Meet in the Department of English Patna University for the Session- 2024-26

A guest lecture was organised in the Department of English, Patna University, Patna on 03 August 2024, on the topic, " National Education Policy 2020: Principles and Practices". The lecture was delivered by Dr Saryug Yadav, Professor of English, Department of Education in Languages, NIE, NCERT, New Delhi. Dean Humanities, Head of all the Department under Humanities were present, Assistant professor from Department of Hindi, Maithili, Persian alongwith the research scholars were present.

A guest lecture was organised by the Department of English Patna University, Patna on 1st August 2024. Renowned Prof. Dr Jaishankar Jha, Professor, Department of English, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi has delivered a very thought provoking lecture to the newly enrolled research scholars and made them aware about the different aspects of Research and Synopsis Writing.

A Three- Day Online Workshop on "Research and Synopsis Writing" was organised by the Department of English, Patna University to help Researcher have more clarity about how to write a synopsis and also to get acquainted with the recent trends in literature. Resource person from all over the country delivered lecture on the topic and motivated the students to work in their respective area with enthusiasm.

A guest lecture was organised in the Department of English on 06-07-2024 on the topic, " Dynamics of English as Twenty-first Century Skill and NEP-2020". The lecture was delivered by the Chief Speaker Dr Saryug Yadav, Professor of English, Department of Education and Languages, NCERT, New Delhi. Former Professor and Head, Dr Shiv Jatan Thakur was invited as Chief Guest for the programme. Head of the Department Dr Arjun Kumar was the chairperson for the programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Research Scholar Abhishek Kumar. Hon'ble Dean, Humanities Dr Ravindra Kumar, Professor, Department of Philosophy was also present alongwith the faculty members of different department of Patna University and Research Scholar and the students of second semester.

The Department of English Patna University celebrated International Family Day on 15-05-2024. On the occasion Speech Competition was organised among the students of second semester by the Hon'ble Head of the Department Dr. Arjun Kumar. The top five students who performed exceptionally well was rewarded by the Department.
