The Department of Geography of Patna University was established in the year 1928. In the beginning the teaching was only upto B.A. Degree course.
The Post-graduate Teaching was started in 1949. The Department of Geography has now emerged as a pioneer centre in Geography Teaching in Estern India. The Department of Geography is located in the campus of Patna College. A new building has been added in the Department of Geography for its Seminar Library, Museum, Map Processing Laboratary, Photography Laboratory etc. They are now suitably placed.
