28 फरवरी ही वह दिन है जब दुनिया भर में प्रसिद्ध भारतीय वैज्ञानिक सीवी रमन ने अपनी खोज रमन इफेक्ट की घोषणा की थी। इस खोज के लिए उन्हें 1930 में नोबल पुरस्कार मिला था। सीवी रमन के इस महान आविष्कार के सम्मान में भारत सरकार ने 1986 में तय किया कि हर वर्ष 28 फरवरी का दिन राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस के तौर पर मनाया जाएगा।

बसंत पंचमी का त्योहार इस बार 14 फरवरी, बुधवार को मनाया जाएगा. यह त्योहार हर साल माघ मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की पंचमी तिथि को मनाया जाता है. इस दिन भक्तजन माता सरस्वती की पूजा-अर्चना करते हैं और सुख-समृद्धि के लिए उनका आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करते हैं.

विश्व रेडियो दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष 13 फरवरी के दिन मनाया जाता हैं. और यह दिवस हमारे जीवन से सूचना, संचार और गीतों के माध्यम से मनोरंजन आदि को हम सभी तक पहुचाने वाले रेडिओ से जुड़ा हैं किसी समय रेडिओ हमारे जीवन का अहम् हिस्सा हुआ करता था.
विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में लगातार सुधार बदलाव कुछ नया करने की दौड़ में कई और नयी चीज़े आई टेलिविजन और मोबाइल और इन्टरनेट जिसके कारण रेडिओ का प्रचलन कम हुआ लेकिन आज भी रेडिओं के चाहने वाले हैं.
World Radio Day की शुरुआत स्पेन रेडियो अकैडमी ने वर्ष 2010 में इसको लेकर एक प्रस्ताव को रखा था. और फिर यूनेस्को की महासभा के 2011 के 36वें सत्र में 13 फरवरी के दिन को विश्व रेडियो दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया गया.
और फिर उसी के बाद संयुक्त राष्ट्र की महासभा ने 13 फरवरी को विश्व रेडियो दिवस के रूप में मनाने की मंजूरी 14 जनवरी, 2013 को दी. और फिर इस दिन को World Radio Day के रूप में मनाया जाने लगा.

राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस सरोजिनी नायडू को समर्पित है। सरोजिनी नायडू का जन्म 13 फरवरी 1879 को हुआ था। वह बचपन से बुद्धिमान थीं। जब सरोजिनी नायडू 12 साल की थीं, तब से उन्हें कविताएं लिखनी शुरू कर दी थी। बाद में स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में भाग लिया। देश की आजादी और महिलाओं के अधिकारों के लिए संघर्ष किया। आजादी के बाद सरोजिनी नायडू को पहली महिला राज्यपाल बनने का भी मौका मिला। उनके कार्यों और महिलाओं के अधिकारों के लिए उनकी भूमिका को देखते हुए सरोजिनी नायडू के जन्मदिन के मौके पर राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाया जाता है।
