India has been elected as a member of the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for the 2022-2026 cycle.
In a series of tweets, Culture Ministry GK Reddy said this is yet another opportunity for India to reinstate the values of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.
The elections for the Intergovernmental Committee took place during the two day General Assembly of the 2003 Convention held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris which began on the 5th of July.
Former Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant will be the new Sherpa of G-20.
Commerce minister Piyush Goyal will give up the position as Sherpa of G-20.
With the G-20 presidency coming to India, a full-time Sherpa is required who would be needed to devote a lot of time to meetings that will be held in different parts of the country.

India's largest floating solar power project is now fully operational. NTPC declared commercial operation of the final part capacity of 20 MW out of 100 MW Ramagundam Floating Solar PV Project at Ramagundam, Telangana with effect from 1st of July. With the operationalisation of 100-MW Solar PV Project at Ramagundam, the total commercial operation of floating solar capacity in the Southern Region rose to 217 MW.
The 100-MW Floating Solar project at Ramagundam is endowed with advanced technology as well as environment-friendly features. Constructed with a financial implication of 423 crore rupees, the project spreads over 500 acres of its reservoir.
An official release said that with the presence of floating solar panels, the evaporation rate from water bodies is reduced, thus helping in water conservation. Nearly 32.5 lakh cubic meters per year water evaporation can be avoided. The water body underneath the solar modules helps in maintaining their ambient temperature, thereby improving their efficiency and generation.
Indian origin T Raja Kumar has taken over as President of Financial Action Task Force ( ), the world's anti-terrorism financing agency. FATF tweeted that Raja Kumar will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing measures, improving asset recovery and other initiatives.
He has more than 35 years of leadership and operational experience in Singapore’s home ministry and police force. succeeds Dr Marcus Pleyer as the chief of the FATF and will serve a two-year-term.

Election Commission of India today announced the schedule for the Election of 16th President of India.
Announcing the poll schedule in New Delhi today, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, poll will be held on 18th of July. Notification for the poll will be issued on 15th of June and last date for filing of nominations will be 29th of this month.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on 30th of this month. The counting will be taken up on 21st of July.
Term of office of President Ram Nath Kovind is ending on 24th of next month.
Mr. Kumar said, election will be held by secret ballot in accordance with system of proportional representation as per the Constitution. He said, the Commission is taking all necessary measures to ensure a free and fair poll.
The President is elected by an electoral college comprising elected members of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. It also includes Legislative Assemblies of Delhi and Puducherry.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, Secretary General of Rajya Sabha will be the Returning Officer for the present election. He said, polling will be held in the Parliament House and the premises of the State Legislative Assemblies.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, total number of electors will be 4,809 including 776 Members of Parliament and 4,033 Members of Legislative Assemblies.
Total value of the votes will be 10 lakh 86 thousand 431. Mr. Kumar said, all COVID precautions and protocols will be followed on the day of polling and counting.
The Election Commission has directed the Election Officers to use the biodegradable material to avoid the use of plastic to make the election process eco-friendly.

being celebrated today. It not only marks the day when Gautam Buddha was born but also the day when he attained Nirvana under the Mahabodhi tree at Bodh Gaya. Lord was born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama on the full moon day in 563 BC at Lumbini in Nepal.
His birth anniversary is also known as Vaisakhi Buddha Purnima or Vesak. The full moon day of May is the most important for Buddhists. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini Grove on the full moon day, he attained enlightenment under the shade of the Bodhi tree and became Gotama Buddha at Bodh Gaya and after 45 years of teaching the Truth, when he was eighty, he passed away at Kusinara on the full moon day of May.
This day is commemorated by Buddhists and Hindus all over the world, and is a major festival in countries like India, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Thailand, Tibet, China, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar to be the new Chief Election Commissioner of India.
President Ram Nath Kovind has cleared his appointment. In a tweet, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju informed that Mr. Kumar, the senior most Election Commissioner, will assume the charge of office of CEC with effect from 15th of May. He will replace incumbent Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra who will be demitting the office on 14th of this month.
Indian Railways has introduced separate seats for newly-born children in trains.
The facility has been started by Northern Railways on a trial basis in Lucknow - New Delhi Mail. The lower berths already reserved for women have been placed next to baby berths so that young children can travel with their mother without any inconvenience.
A baby berth has been introduced along with two berths in the AC coach of the train. No extra charge will be levied for baby berth.
Talking to AIR, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railways Deepak Kumar said, the facility will be extended in other trains after getting feedback.
