A Brief Biography of Jesus and Mary Academy, Patna City. The Founders of Jesus and Mary Academy wanted to establish a School that meets the needs of all students through the collaboration of Students, Parents, Teachers and Staff and we all know that The Educationists are the architects of future of Children. With this vision in mind, Late Joachim Patrick laid the foundation of the institution, Jes
us and Mary Academy. The only ICSE affiliated School in Patna City, Jesus and Mary Academy was founded in the year 1972 by Late Joachim Patrick as King Christ Academy and was later on re-christened to Jesus and Mary Academy in the year 1982 which was established as another branch with English medium curriculum with the involvement and support of Mr. Ambrose Patrick who is also one of the Founder member of the School. However, The Name, King Christ Academy still resonates in the minds of residents of Patna and they very well know that King Christ Academy and Jesus and Mary Academy are like two bodies with one Soul. King Christ Academy also continued as Hindi Medium alongside Jesus and Mary Academy which was the English medium for those who opted for English medium curriculum. It was not so long ago that all the Hindi medium stream was converted to English medium and shifted to Jesus and Mary Academy. It was with only limited resources and dearth of facilities, the school started to flourish and be known in the locality. A school that started with only 4 classrooms grew and gained foothold in Patna City by the blessing of the Almighty. From a School that was made of shade and started with a strength of only 40-50 students, it was transformed to a beautiful palatial building and the strength kept on increasing. As an Educationist and Entrepreneur, Mr. Ambrose Patrick, the present Director of Jesus and Mary Academy aimed to take the School to new heights and constructed the main and present branch of the School at Hajiganj Kaimashikoh, Patna City. In the meanwhile, The Director of the School also completed his Law Degree (LL.B) that helped him to understand the legal aspects of education. Late Mrs. Pushpa Patrick, The Former and Founding Principal and one of the Founding member of Jesus and Mary Academy stood firm and confident as The Pillar of the School that helped in the endeavors because of which the School grew and flourished and became a very well-known institution in the Society. As it is said that if you make up your mind to achieve something and put your 100 % into it, it is bound to be blessed by the Almighty. A School when it's evolving, faces a lot of hardships, and so did Jesus and Mary Academy. The limited resources, dearth of facilities and financial problems all set up challenges for its growth. But the willpower and the strong desire of doing something good always guided the path and it became what it is today. The School, Jesus and Mary Academy, was renovated by Mr. Ambrose Patrick & his wife Mrs. Pushpa Patrick in the year 1982 and as time passed the School gained its Goodwill and recognition in the Society. The number of students kept growing and then it was time to make the school, a recognized entity. The School was now ready to apply for Affiliation and reached its bench mark in the form of permanent affiliation by the ICSE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations). So, in the year 1998, the school was granted its affiliation by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE). The school now applied for Ten plus two (10+2) in the year 2000 and was granted its affiliation to the Indian School Certificate (ISC). The institution was the first school in Patna City to get affiliation in the year 1998, and still remain the only ICSE affiliated school in that area. Education today lacks values and should be revived so that it is committed in preparing all students for learning access every day in a caring and safe environment. The School, therefore, since its inception, has tried to inculcate the value of academic excellence, love for lifelong learning, character development and to make responsible citizens of our Country. The institution envisions to meet the needs of all students coming from different streams of society, through the collaboration of students, parents and staffs. It lays stress on rigorous academic excellence, love of lifelong learning and character development that fosters social responsibility and citizenship. It aims at creating a strong home-school connection to support the development of all children. A lot has changed in these years since the establishment of Jesus and Mary Academy in the year 1972. Relations, teaching methods, new technological changes and new ways of communication have brought education to a new arena. But the role and importance of educators can never be made any less. Jesus and Mary Academy has always best dedicated itself for service to mankind. Education being the most important field has always been the biggest responsibility that the School has taken shoulder. Jesus and Mary is not just a School, but it is that walls where the best minds are shaped and future of Children are made. Schools have a very important and decisive role to play. Teachers sitting in our midst are like plough and children barren land. It is only a Teacher that can cultivate and make them useful for Society. As said and mentioned, the School’s teaching staff are well qualified and trained in their respective fields and subjects and other non-teaching staffs also cater to their responsibilities who perform their duties to their highest caliber. The School has always thrived to have a healthy and co-operative environment among its teaching and non-teaching staff, Parents, Students and the Society at large. Jesus and Mary Academy has added many feathers to its cap. To mention a few is by introducing Little Pumpkin Play School in the year 2017 and expanding its wings to the foundation of our society, the Little Geniuses. The School has been awarded Academic Brilliance Certificate 2018 and also for the year 2019. The School was also the first in Bihar to introduce Yoga in School in the year 1975 and Karate and Taekwondo in the year 1980. The School has received National level Gold, Silver and Bronze in Karate. Computer Education started in School in the year 1990 itself when the Technology and Computers had just started to enter our Country. Although there are many events held round the year but The School’s Annual Day Function is the most cherished and the most awaited event where the atmosphere of the event becomes vibrant and electric and it is also the most talked show of its locality and town. The School in January 2019 received a setback due to the sudden demise of its Principal Mrs. Pushpa Patrick, but the strong pillars of the School established by Mr. Ambrose Patrick and Late Mrs. Pushpa Patrick has risen to a height where there is no looking back. The present Principal Mrs. Pooja Ann Sharma has now taken the responsibility on her shoulders. The School has been selected to be a part of prestigious International Career and College Counseling Conference (IC3), from The United States of America (USA) which was held in August 2019 in Mumbai, India and has interactive Sessions and collaborations with International Universities and Schools across the Globe. The School now endeavors to expand and open its branches outside Patna City. Last but not the least, We should remember what the very famous and the first President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the World”.
