Rules of Options Trading

Options trading is not easy.
It is a segment where just getting the direction right is not enough —
you also need to understand time, volatility (VIX), premium, and Risk Management.
If these things are understood correctly,
trading decisions can become clearer and more structured.
But a trade taken without a plan and Risk Management can lead to losses.

Ask yourself 3 questions before taking a trade

Why am I taking this trade?
What will I do if the trade goes wrong?
Where is my Exit and Risk defined?

When these things are clear in advance,
Overtrading, Confusion, and Emotional Decisions are reduced.

VIX — Indicator of Market Volatility
VIX shows how much volatility is present in the market.
Option Premium moves up and down accordingly.

1. When VIX is Rising
When VIX increases, Option Premium may also increase.
Volatility in the market remains high.
In such times:

Market Bullish → Call Buying can be considered
Market Bearish → Put Buying can be considered

⚠️ Extra caution is necessary in Option Selling during Rising VIX.

2. When VIX is Falling
When VIX falls, Premium Decay may be observed.
In such times:

Market Bullish → Put Selling can be considered
Market Bearish → Call Selling can be considered

⚠️ Be cautious with Option Buying during Falling VIX.

Use of AVWAP and VIX
AVWAP is considered an important Reference Level in options trading.
When VIX approaches AVWAP:

Premium may be higher there
If VIX starts weakening from there → a Selling setup may form
If VIX sustains above AVWAP → Buying momentum may be seen

Bollinger Band and VIX
If VIX reverses from the Lower Band of the Bollinger Band,
an opposite direction move may be seen in the market.

What is Gold EGR?

Gold EGR stands for Electronic Gold Receipt. It is a digital instrument traded on NSE/BSE that represents actual physical gold.
In simple terms: gold is held in digital form in your Demat account, but actual physical gold is stored in a SEBI-approved vault behind it.

How does EGR work?
Step 1 — Physical Gold goes to the Vault

Gold is deposited in a SEBI-approved vault
Purity is verified (995 / 999)
EGR is then issued against it

Step 2 — It appears in your Demat Account
EGR will be visible in your broker's demat account — Zerodha, Groww, Angel One, Religare, etc.
Step 3 — Trading like a Share
You can Buy, Sell, and Hold it — just like a stock.

Taxation
Important:

In some cases, EGR ↔ Physical Gold conversion may not directly trigger capital gains
But selling may attract capital gains tax

Not ideal if:

You want gold for wearing as jewellery
