India's Ratan, Sir Ratan Tata is no longer with us.

Let's get to know some of the facts about him:

1. He had a lone childhood and was raised by his grandmother. His parents got separated when he was just 10.

2. He had a degree in architecture from Cornell University later followed by a management course from Harvard.

3. He was in love at the age of 25, but somehow it did not convert to a marriage. He never married later.

4. His first job was to manage the floor operations of Tata Steel as part of his first job in 1961.

5. In 1991-92, he was made the chairman of the Tata Group.

This was the time when India was going through a transition of liberalisation.

Ratan Tata had to prove his metal at the onset. And, he did.

He was known for philanthropy and will remain an example for the world on how businessmen/women can make difference to the society. Everyone in the country is going to feel a void that can't be filled again, ever!

Good bye Sir Ratan Tata.
