This is GOMCO film. Although recoding is bad and presentation is not very professional, but still it reminds about so many places in our college. Nostalgic feelings.

Congratulations
What are your ideas if a few seniors and higher up in GOMCO Alumni Association suggest GOMCO authorities to name different roads, buildings and lectures halls inside our college and rajindra hospital on the names of stalwarts, martyrs and pioneers who have done their degrees or diplomas from GOMCO Patiala as a mark of respect and inspiration for generations to come.
They may probably be doing it already, so present students can make old timers aware about anything like this, after all that is what college connect is all about. e.g. Capt Ashwini Kumar recently died in Siachen this year. There might be more like him in the past. Are we aware about their sacrifices for the country? We can name a small road or corridor from any one department to another department on his name as a mark of remembrance and we can name different lectures halls on the names of stalwarts or pioneers. Any suggestions??

Capt Ashwini Kumar, Medical officer in the Indian Army was from Shanti nagar, Patiala. He did his MBBS from GOMCO, Patiala. He was commissiond in the Indian army in Jan, 2015. His medical officers basic course (MOBC) after commissioning in the army was postponed thrice, which is the full military training course conducted for MOs before going to any post in the field or peace, and the last time it was postponed because he was sent to Siachen glacier. He reached his post on 20th Sept., which is itself a feat as that is actually the most toughest part apart from surviving there. It may be because of Siachen battle school course, which is a tougher but a shorter course as you are supposed to be fit already and fully trained from your earlier courses and postings. He got trapped in an avalanche there when he was in the link patrol to one post on the morning of 13 November 2015 at 0530 hrs (winter vacanted post). They were vacating the post because it gets dangerous in winters. 10-15 troops were rescued by the army, but only he died. They tried to find him under the snow, and rescued his body within a few minutes, but he was no more. This is a great loss to the nation, and the family. Rest in peace comrade. You did it for the country.

GOMCO College connect at www.gomco.org is an initiative by Dr. D.K. Kalra to connect Alumni, Staff and Students of GOMCO, Patiala.
"I started gomco.org as a free website on yahoo geocities and 8m.com in 2004 in the UK to have some alumni network so that everyone can be connected with friends and alumni. We had more than 450 members of alumni within six months and more than 500 photographs of alumni and students which were of nostalgic value."
- Dr. D.K. Kalra [1996 batch]
GOMCO College Connect fulfills aspirations of students and alumni to connect with each other in this era of social media as the college requires a platform to connect all old and new students which this website can easily provide. People can talk to their old and new friends, can refresh their memories with nostalgic photographs and can discuss whatever they wish to with each other.
In 2014, with features like group discussions, albums, articles and many other things, we have started another new feature to motivate students and alumni, "The Hall of Fame" to show big stalwarts from the college who have achieved new heights in their career and brought glory to the college. Any registered member can contribute articles, news, hall of fame personalities etc. the big thing is its all free. It is my contribution back to our alma mater. I owe whatever little success I have achieved till now in my life to GOMCO only.
