Victory of Students' Movement to Save Democratic Spaces

All India Democratic Students' Organisation congratulates the Students, teachers and all Education Loving people for the historic victory of the movement for Senate Elections in Panjab University, Chandigarh. After, 27 days of struggle, the Senate Election in PU has been announced on 27th November 2025 in the evening. After 27 days of continuous protest under the banner of the "Panjab University Bachao Morcha", the central government and University authority under pressure from the movement, has been compelled to announce the date for the Senate elections. Once again, it has been proven that just demands can be achieved through uncompromising united and democratic mass movements.
As a part of the implementation of NEP 2020, the governments are trying to reduce the existence of democratic bodies, all over the country. This victory is yet another sign that only a united movement is a viable path forward.
The struggle will continue to Save Public Education, Save Campus Democracy, to save Education, Culture and Humanity.

After, 27 days of struggle, Senate Elections in Panjab University, Chandigarh has been announced today in the evening. Panjab University, Chandigarh has received formal approval from the Vice-President of India, who is also the Chancellor of the university, for holding elections to the new Senate for a four-year term beginning 2026. After 27 days of continuous protest under the banner of the "Panjab University Bachao Morcha", the central government and University authority under pressure from the movement, has been compelled to announce the date for the Senate elections. Once again, it has been proven that just demands can be achieved through united and democratic mass movements.

Save Culture, Save Democracy, Save Humanity.

AIDSO stands in solidarity with the ongoing students protest at Punjab University, Chandigarh in their democratic demand to hold the senate Election immediately there.

State level Signature Campaign against NEP-2020 and other educational problems is going on in various districts of punjab.
Our Demands:
1. Roll back New Education Policy 2020, a blueprint of privatization, commercialization, centralisation and communalisation of education.
2. Increase the state education budget and ensure basic facilities (such as sufficient books in libraries, infrastructure, and others) in all schools, colleges, & universities.
3. Waive off full fees for the current academic session for students in flood-affected areas in punjab and roll back fee hikes at all levels.
4. Appoint permanent teachers to fill vacant posts in all government schools, colleges, and universities. Regularize all guest teachers.
5. Ensure hostel facilities for all outstation students in colleges and universities. Repair and maintain all existing hostels.
6. Stop arbitrary fee collection by private schools and colleges. Form a fee regulation committee.
7. Stop closing or merging schools under the pretext of school closure or merger.
8. Provide 100% compensation for crops and livestock lost by flood-affected farmer families.

Today,a discussion on the occasion of the 119th birthday of Saheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was held at World Punjabi Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala.

ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰ ਸਮੇਂ AIDSO ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ-ਏ-ਆਜ਼ਮ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ 119ਵੇਂ ਜਨਮਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਂਜਲੀ ਭੇਂਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।‌‌ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ AIDSO ਦੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੇ ਜਰਨਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਸਿਬਾਸਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਹਰਾਜ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।

Today in the morning on the occasion of 119th Birthday of Shaheed - E –Azam Bhagat Singh a garlanding programme is held at 'Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park' at patiala. Comrade Shibasis Praharaj General Secretary of AIDSO Central Council has paid his floral tribute to the great martyr.
