From Church High School in President's Estate in 1941 to Naveen Bharat School in 1947 to finally becoming Delhi Public School in 1949 at its present location on Mathura Road — the Delhi Public School (DPS) has traversed a long journey. ly academically. It all started from a few tents pitched on the ground in 1949. Over 200 schools that followed are simple assertions of the strength that is DPS. What has remained unchanged is the zest and spirit to achieve and to excel. The DPS family, thus, is a living testimony to one of the oldest institutions in India. For more than six decades, the DPS Society has developed with a spirit and a vision. Today, it stands as a citadel of learning and a harbinger of quality consciousness, committed to developing the minds and initiatives of children. Many factors have played a vital role in the creation of this 'epitome of quality education’. The vision and foresight of the pioneers, the involvement and professional interest in the cause of education of the serving Board of Governors, the appointment of outstanding Principals to steer each school in the right direction, an unmatched faculty, and finally; the selection of meritorious and bright students. These characteristics have placed the DPS Society on the forefront of the educational map of India and the world. The vitality of the classrooms, the energy of the playing fields and the open friendliness of the work environment have enabled DPS students to reach their fullest potential — whether in securing distinctions in the board examinations or winning national and international accolades in drama, debates or sports.
