Robin Hibu,IPS is Selected for ROLL OF HONOUR OF BUZZ CREATORS- 2014
Robin Hibu IPS, Joint Commissioner and Nodal Officer for North East People, Delhi Police has been selected as one of the top 50 grass root Indians in the ROLL OF HONOUR OF BUZZ CREATORS- 2014 by Media Watch, Delhi for those Indians who made a difference in their respective field at the grass root level
It is a rare honour, where towering personalities like Arvind Kejriwal, Dr. Harshvardhan, Shahnaz Hussain, Deepak Chopra, Sanjeev Kapoor, Sushil Kumar, Band of Indian Ocean are at the illustrious Roll of Honour of Buzz Creators- 2014.
They have chosen those Indian individuals who have made a major contribution inspite of heavy odds in their respective fields.
He has been have chosen for the following reasons:-
1. a) Creating awareness, mainstreaming and addressing the North East people problems at Metropolitan Cities like Delhi.
b) Instrumental in setting up first of its kind Special Police Unit for North East people at Delhi.
c) 24 X 7 Special North East Helpline 1093 for emergency intervention of North East people in crisis.
d) Nominating youth volunteers from North Eastern States, working at Delhi as Delhi Police North East Representatives. Five to seven members from each of the 8 North Eastern States have been co-opted after proper selection and training and they are acting as ambassadors of North East people as well as assisting the North East crime victims.
e) Starting popular page – “Delhi Police for North East Folks” which has a hit of more than 25 lakhs within a year of its starting. It is the best interactive page of the Delhi Police.
f) Starting of ever vigilant 24 WhatApp groups for different category of North East People at Delhi, for redressal, advice, emergency assistance and spreading legal awareness through these groups on Mobile number 9810083486. Some of the permanent groups are :-
- North East Student Leaders
- North East Lawyers Group
- North East Women Activists
- North East NGOs, Delhi
- North East Officers Group
- North East Crime Victim group etc.
These WhatsApp Groups are connecting the North East distressed persons 24 X 7 from the ground zero and is one of the exemplary initiatives for reaching out to the vulnerable sections of the society like the North East people in Delhi.
g) Taken initiatives for an all out sensitization for police personnel, university, schools, institutions etc. on the problems of the North East people cities as well as on the rich cultural heritage of the North East States at Delhi.
h) One of the pioneer member of MHA’s Bezbaruah Committee for looking into the problem of the North East people at Metros.
i) Instrumental in sending the Delhi Police officers for the first time to North Eastern States for cultural exposure. Their trip will be permanent programme every year.
j) Instrumental in co-opting the Gorkhas as a part of Delhi Police initiative on par with the other eight North Eastern States.
k) Instrumental in co-opting North Eastern faculty members for sensitization to training colleges.
l) Bringing out publication of an exhaustive and informative Delhi Manual for North East people at Delhi.
m) Manual on self defence for girls after the analysis of the crime against women of Delhi. The manual is an exhaustive lucid self defence manual for the girls.
2. Initiatives taken at Police Training College, Jharoda Kalan:-
a) Getting an approval for CGHS Hospital for Delhi Police.
b) Starting first air conditioned CSD shopping complex for the Delhi Police on the pattern of military CSD canteen wherein all the essential goods are 25 to 40 % cheaper than market price.
c) Got an approval for Post Office for Delhi Police.
d) Exclusive water supply from Delhi Jal Board till then hitherto water tankers were supplying the water at the Police Training College.
e) Initiated compulsory sensitization on North East problems at cities by inviting faculties from the North East.
f) Initiated special self defence training for selected self defence women who will in turn to be the trainers of self defence for the colleges of Delhi at schools, colleges and at different working places for the females in Delhi.
g) Holding record recruitment for 12 lakh 75 thousand candidates within five months, features like bio-metric, iris check, CCTVs, interactive social media, setting control room well in advance before the examination during the recruitment.
3) Have been appointed as Nodal Officer for North East people, Delhi.
He is from Northeast (Arunachal Pradesh) and presently serving in Delhi Police.
