Over 2,000 years ago, Maharishi Sushruta was documenting surgical techniques, instruments and the training of surgeons in India.

Today, his bronze sculpture stands at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Scotland, as part of its Heritage Collection. A powerful recognition of how far Indian knowledge travelled and how deeply it has contributed to the history of medicine.

And this is bigger than one statue.

It reminds us that Indian Knowledge Systems were built on observation, experimentation, learning and passing knowledge forward.
