A bouquet of fresh harvest anyone?
This turned in Brazilian spinach parathas!
These spinach is growing in my balcony in semi shade and it does do well. My balcony gets a fair bit of sun for atleast 2 hrs.
I'm trying to cram as many leafy greens as I can. We might not have place to sit anymore 😁

My elephant ears are clearly the showstoppers.
This is the result of yesterday 's cleaning activity.

I cleared cob webs, dead leaves, weeds, broomed the balcony flor and rearranged.

I always like to freshen up my grow spaces before a new cycle of sowing. I'm happy with this look for now.
Back to planning the next sowing season. Thinking of adding some more edible flowers.

I thought I'll do a post and introduce myself. ( coincidentally I'm wearing the same dress today)
I'm Anjee and I started growing food sometime in September 2020. I started with palak and bhindi, and then sowed some tomatoes. In Dec, I realised how hooked I am. I know I'll never 'not grow food' and that's something!
🥬My dream is grow 70+ varieties of edible plants ( including fruits, veggies, herbs, spices and flowers)
🥬 grow heirloom and indigenous varieties
🥬tropical foods!

☘️ and document it here with my growing family.

That's me,

I'm liking that my garden looks so wild these days. Everything is intermingled with each other in my front yard.
In the first pic I have red amaranth, lemongrass, bluepea
Swipe to see Malabar spinach and blue pea holding onto each other.

Chilli was an accidental crop for me. We don't eat much chillies as a family, so I didn't want to grow them.
When I sowed my first set of seeds last year, I sowed some capsicum. I watched capsicum seeds germinate, capsicum seeds become saplings, and I transplanted 4 capsicum saplings into a bigger better pot. I fertilized capsicum. watered it.
Then the first flower came out. Kinda looks like chilli, my MiL said over video call. It's after all the same family.
And that flower turned into a you guessed it- chilli!
I accidentally sowed chilli seeds! Ah well now we eat chillies as a family.

Label those seedling pots folks. Label them!!

Have you ever seen a flower turn into a Seed?
I was lucky to catch this stage when I went up to my terrace today.

See how my blue pea flower flower is halfway to becoming a Seed pod.
The plant has shed lots of leaves. It's almost looks bare now.
Blue pea flowers usually go to Seed if you don't pluck them off the plant. I'm waiting to see if it gives me more flowers. When it does, I will make more blue pea tea.
I'm excited about saving Seed and sharing with friends.

This Malabar spinach was getting a little too crowded with the blue pea plant it was with upstairs.

I pulled it of and now she lives in balcony and has new friends.
