Campus Shield: 5-Day Safety & Risk Management Workshop
Roots Country School successfully organised a comprehensive 5-Day Safety & Risk Management Workshop for its staff and students with the objective of strengthening safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and effective response skills across the school community.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Ranbir Singh, Retired Honorary Subedar Major, 5th Battalion, The Dogra Regiment, who brought his extensive experience and expertise in discipline, safety preparedness, emergency response, and disaster management to the sessions.
The workshop ensured the active participation of key stakeholders, including Security Guards, Drivers, Student Council Members, Safety Monitors, Instructors, and other staff members. The initiative focused on equipping participants with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to respond promptly and responsibly during emergencies.
Key Areas Covered
Fire Fighting Practice & Fire Drill – Hands-on training in the use of fire extinguishers and appropriate response procedures during a fire emergency.
Earthquake Disaster Management – Awareness regarding earthquake preparedness, safe evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Safety Readiness Exercise – Practical activities designed to assess preparedness, coordination, alertness, and response during emergency situations.
Basic Life Support (BLS) & CPR – A dedicated practical session on Basic Life Support and CPR was conducted by the School Nursing Officer, providing participants with essential life-saving skills and guidance on responding to medical emergencies.
Health Awareness – Promoting awareness about health, hygiene, preventive care, and maintaining a safe and healthy school environment.
Emergency Evacuation Drill – Practical evacuation exercises focusing on orderly movement, assembly procedures, communication, accountability, and ensuring the safety of all individuals.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for participants to understand their individual responsibilities during emergencies while reinforcing the importance of teamwork, discipline, communication, preparedness, and quick decision-making.
The practical nature of the sessions enabled participants to gain hands-on experience in handling emergency situations and responding with confidence and composure.
