Camões, I.P., promotes Portuguese language and culture overseas by establishing programmes supporting and collaborating with departments of Portuguese or the equivalent structures at foreign universities. Camões - Institute of Language and Co-operation, I.P. carries out the duties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the area of culture by ensuring the promotion and spread of Portuguese culture abroad by designing, producing, proposing and promoting activities and projects to increase international awareness of all the different types of artistic expression. Camões-CLP is one of 74 Centres of Portuguese Language of Camões, I.P. in the world and functions as logistic support for teaching, learning and researching as well as strengthening Portuguese cultural expression. These centres, founded in partnership with universities and international institutions, are integrated with libraries, music and video archives and computer and multimedia facilities. Camões-Centro de Língua Portuguesa in Goa was established in 2001, initially functioning from the premises of the Consulate General of Portugal, later moved to the heart of Panjim at Agva House, Dr. Dada Vaidya Road in December 2005. On the 11th of January 2017 the current premises, overlooking the river Mandovi, was inaugurated by His Excellency the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa.
