Vocational Exposure Programme on Art & Craft

Government Secondary School, Tareythang successfully organized a Vocational Exposure Programme on 29th July 2026, featuring Mr. Biraj Rai, a talented artist from Rhenock Chalisey, as the resource person.

The interactive session introduced students to various creative skills, including DIY art and craft, calligraphy, human face drawing using the Loomis Method, and creative writing techniques. Students also learned to make beautiful photo frames from unwanted paper and explored innovative ways of recycling used materials into useful and artistic products.

The programme provided students with hands-on learning experiences, enhanced their artistic abilities, and encouraged creativity, environmental awareness, and the importance of reusing waste materials in meaningful ways.

The programme was successfully coordinated by Mr. Reshap Sharma (GT Arts), Mr. Sushan Limboo (GT Maths), and Mr. Keshab Tewari (IT Instructor), whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

Government Secondary School, Tareythang organised a Tithi Bhojan on 23rd July 2026 on the occasion of the farewell programme of Mr. Prakash Sharma. The Tithi Bhojan was collectively sponsored and contributed by all the teachers of the school.
A wholesome meal was prepared and served to all 51 students, teaching and non-teaching staff members, and the SMC members present on the occasion.
The students, staff and SMC members enjoyed the meal together, making the farewell programme more memorable and meaningful. The occasion reflected the spirit of togetherness, sharing and cooperation among the members of the school community.
The school extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the teachers for their generous contribution towards the Tithi Bhojan and to the SMC members for their gracious presence and participation in the programme.

Government Secondary School, Tareythang bid a heartfelt farewell to Mr. Prakash Sharma on his transfer, expressing sincere gratitude for his dedicated and valuable service to the school.
During his tenure, he served with commitment as Sarathi Coordinator and actively led FLN, SNP, and Vidya Pravesh initiatives. He also played a key role in the school's Apiculture Initiative, leading to the school's first-ever honey harvest. A passionate sports enthusiast, he continuously motivated students to participate in games and physical activities. His kindness, humility, and generous nature, including sharing fruits from his own garden with students and staff, will always be remembered.

MERITORIOUS SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANT

Government Secondary School, Tareythang, gratefully acknowledges the generous support extended by the Late Narapati and Kausila Devi Sharma Memorial Trust, Tareythang, Pakyong, Sikkim, towards encouraging academic excellence and supporting the development of the school.

As a mark of respect and gratitude towards Late Narapati Sharma and Late Kausila Devi Sharma, the family instituted an Annual Meritorious Scholarship for students securing the highest marks in the Class X CBSE (AISSE) Examination. Under this initiative, a one-time scholarship of ₹15,000 each is ordinarily awarded to the topper boy and topper girl.

Since only girl students appeared in the Class X CBSE Board Examination from the school this year, the family graciously decided to award the scholarships to the first and second topper girl students:

Miss Bijayata Kafley, daughter of Mr. Bhim Lal Kafley and Mrs. Geeta Kafley, secured the First Position with 88.8% and was awarded a scholarship of ₹15,000.

Miss Kabita Sharma, daughter of Late Mr. Ashok Sharma (Parsai) and Mrs. Saraswati Pradhan, secured the Second Position with 84.8% and was awarded a scholarship of ₹15,000.

In addition to the scholarships, the Trust also presented a one-time grant of ₹10,000 to Government Secondary School, Tareythang, for the year 2026, in memory of Late Homnath Sharma, Late Narbada Sharma, Late Bhakti Prasad Sharma and Late Trilochan Sharma. The grant was presented through the Late Narapati and Kausila Devi Sharma Memorial Trust, whose trustees are Padam Kumari Sharma, Mohan Prasad Sharma, Tulasi Sharma and Bimla Sharma.

The school fraternity expresses its sincere gratitude to the Bhattarai family and the Memorial Trust for their generosity and continued support. Their noble initiative not only honours the cherished memory of their departed family members but also encourages academic excellence and contributes meaningfully to the development of the school.

The students and staff members of Government Secondary School, Tareythang extend their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Sabitra Sharma, Ward Panchayat, Upper Tareythang and Mrs. Samjana Pradhan, Panchayat President, Bering Tareythang GPU , for their generous donation of 10 ceiling fans to our school.
With the rise in temperature and consequently due to hot weather condition, our classrooms had become increasingly uncomfortable for students during learning hours. Your thoughtful contribution has brought much-needed relief and has created a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for our students.

📍Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (22–26 June 2026)
As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Government Secondary School, Tareythang conducted a series of pledge-taking and awareness programmes from 20th to 26th June 2026. Students, teachers, and the School Head actively participated throughout the campaign by taking the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge and spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The week-long programme successfully reinforced the importance of leading a healthy, responsible, and drug-free life while encouraging everyone to work together towards building a drug-free society.

Government Secondary School, Tareythang successfully organized a one-week Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp – 2026 under the aegis of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The camp was conducted by Mrs. Choden Lepcha (PRT General), who served as the Resource Person. Students were introduced to the basics of Lepcha and Indian Sign Language (ISL) through engaging and interactive sessions.

The valedictory programme was held along with the Summative Assessment–I Result Day. Mrs. Sabitra Sharma, Panchayat, Upper Tareythang, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while parents and SMC members attended as Special Guests. Certificates and prizes were distributed to the participants.

Mr. Shiva Prasad Sharma ( GT Arts) of the institution efficiently managed the photography of the entire programme, capturing the memorable moments of the camp.

🍯 A Note of Gratitude to Mr. Prakash Sharma 🍯
Government Secondary School, Tareythang, expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Prakash Sharma, formerly serving as PRT (General) at our school, for introducing the innovative practice of apiculture (beekeeping) on the school campus.
His initiative has provided students with valuable hands-on learning experiences while promoting awareness about sustainable and eco-friendly practices. We are pleased to share that the first batch of honey from the school's beehive was successfully extracted a few days ago. Despite his transfer, Mr. Sharma personally visited the school to oversee and carry out the honey extraction, demonstrating his continued dedication and commitment to the project he started.
The school community sincerely appreciates his vision, hard work, and lasting contribution. His efforts have laid the foundation for a meaningful learning initiative that will continue to benefit our students for years to come.
