“25 Years in Teaching – A Real Change I Can’t Ignore”
For over 25 years in the teaching profession, I have closely observed student behavior across generations.
Before COVID, students—whether strong, average, or weak—had one common trait: they were willing to work hard and improve. There was a sense of discipline, effort, and gradual growth.
However, post-COVID, the shift is clearly visible.
Today’s students are:
More inclined towards entertainment and instant gratification
Struggling with time management and consistency
Often too relaxed and less driven towards long-term goals
Easily influenced by trends, social media, and peer pressure
This is not about blaming Gen Z, but understanding them. They have grown up in a digital world with constant stimulation, which has impacted their focus and priorities.
As a teacher, it sometimes raises a concern—how will they face the future challenges if this continues?
But at the same time, I believe: 👉 With the right guidance, structure, and mentorship, they can still achieve great things.
👉 They don’t lack potential—they need direction, discipline, and purpose.
Our role as educators is no longer just teaching subjects, but also:
Building focus and habits
Teaching time management
Guiding them to use technology wisely instead of being controlled by it
Because the future of this generation depends on how we guide them today.
