A lot of news is coming from China regarding the spread of a viral infection called Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV). Few facts about this infection.

1) Its like any other common cold causing virus .This is commonly encountered in the Indian population therefore already immunity has been developed. This virus is among us since 2001.
2) Unless patients have major comorbidities, it generally does not lead to severe illness.
3) Currently, there appears to be no significant threat to the Indian community, and there is no need to panic.
4) There is no vaccine for it as yet .
