Ability to accept failure:

In life we see multiple ups & downs but winner is the one who can pass through & stay focused towards the ultimate goal. Success can be achieved through experience & experience is the output of ups & downs during the journey. Good traders know that many of their trades would not go as per their perception. However, they also know that no one else should be blamed for a bad trade. A good trader takes credit of all his trades whether good or bad. Never ever use the language of a shaky trader:

• Market is very choppy today.
• Every time market goes against me.
• Why my stocks are not moving with the market.
• Instead of all good signals market is not going strong and so on…

Being a good trader you should avoid all this. Don’t shake your head and always stick to the basics of the trading. Don’t try too many things. You can’t blame the market or anyone else for your losing trades. It’s only you who is to be blamed or appreciated for bad or good trades. Even best & most successful traders in the world make mistakes, but they accept their mistakes, try to correct them by doing damage control & add to their experience. In match of Cricket, matches are not won by playing best cricket in one or two overs. Players make many mistakes during the game but they need to correct it at the right time & take actions for damage control. The winner is the one who can control mistakes & best use of the available opportunities. Trading is also like a game where you are competing with millions of traders across the world. Following trading mantra would help you to hold on to your nerves & eventually emerges as a successful trader.

“If you made a bad trade, forget it; if you made a good trade, forget it quicker and keep on moving till the market is on.”

Difference between trader & investor:

1 A trader just wants the stock to move in either direction i.e. up or down. If a stock is stuck at a level or it opened gap up or gap down and stays there, it will not be a good stock for a trader. If a stock is opened gap up/down 2% and it extends its move to 5% or 10%, trader has the opportunity to make some good amount of money. Whereas an investor is worried about business model, long term growth, earnings and fundamentals etc. An investor does a lot of research before putting their money into any stock. They are concerned about Industry growth, Government policies, Interest rate regulations, Inflation numbers, Geo Political scenario and so on… A wrong decision for an investor may persuade him to re-asses all his investments but wrong decision for a trader is just another bad trade and losing a couple of bucks.
