🤯A lot of time we are drained
because we are making sure that
everyone is happy, comfortable and ok, leaving no energy for ourselves.

😎Being caring and helpful is a
beautiful thing, but if you are drained and resentful , it's not so great. Identifying your bandwith should be the foremost prioroty.

🤗Boundaries are how we teach
people to treat us. Without them,
feeling drained is likely to happen.

Client M: I have worked in the top IT firms, I earn more than I ever expected and I have a very lavish lifestyle. Why am I still so unsatisfied and bored? Why do I not feel like learning and upgrading myself even when I am such an inquisitive person? I see my colleagues who are quite happy and are really catching up with the pace. Where am I going wrong?

Meraki: M, do you like your work or are you good at it?

Client M: Now that you are asking me this question, I recall that I never wanted to be in IT in the first place.

Meraki: M, you can be good at a lot of things, but that does not necessary mean that you may be interested in pursuing a career in the same.

Client M: I went ahead with IT because I didn't know what else to do. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I was decent at it and just pursued it in a fluke. OMG, this is such a eureka moment. No wonder why I feel like I am barely surviving each day.

There is a very beautiful concept called, state of flow. In positive psychology, a flow state, also being in the zone, is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Rationally speaking, it may take immense number of trials and errors to identify this state and it may not be even feasible to make it your full time career at the given point. However, until then, you can do a lot of justice to yourself and your career by being self aware and by asking yourself these questions:

1. Am I genuinely interested in this profile or am I just naturally good at it?
2. Will I be willing to stick to this profile for the next 5 years?
3. Am I opting this because it will pay my bills or is this actually my cup of tea?
4. What could possibly be my state of flow? Will it offer me financial stability currently? If not now, then how can I work towards it?
5. What aspect of this job makes me extremely dissatisfied?
6. If I had a chance to rebuild my career, what would it look like?
7. Which of the 4 quadrants do I lie in?

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. You may still feel tired when you wake up. Insomnia can sap not only your energy level and mood but also your health, work performance and quality of life.

Consider seeking profession help if this prolongs.

Have you ever started reading a book or started watching a show only to realise that you’re quite bored? But you plough on anyway, because you don’t want to give up on it? In relationships, often it is more about investing time than money. The sunk cost fallacy is at work when people stay in unhealthy relationships. It blurs decision-making and could even result in further detriment.

In career, many of us feel that because we have invested a lot of time and potentially money studying and gaining experience in a career path and we should stick with it no matter what. We may know deep down that we aren’t suited for our current career, but we let the sunk costs fallacy influence our decision. The Sunk Cost Fallacy could keep you in a career that is a bad fit for you for years.

Now that you are aware of it, you will be able to spot the sunk cost fallacy in all the aspects of your life.
