Making language learning meaningful!
Language learning is most effective when it connects to learners’ immediate environment. Activities that combine reading, writing, speaking, and listening help children use language purposefully and consider their audience.
These pictures are from the ‘One Letter Fun’, an activity organised by the Ignis English Skills & Life Skills Lab (ELSL) at Success High School, Madikonda, Hanamkonda. Children built words and practiced using them in conversation, strengthening vocabulary and practical language skills in an interactive setting.

Expression is at the core of Ignis’ Life Skills and English Program, where every child finds his/her voice through participatory learning.
Big, bigger, biggest!!
That’s how many of us are trained to mug up superlatives and comparatives. But how many of us actually know how to use them in day-to-day conversations?
In this video, children are practicing comparatives and superlatives at Ignis Careers’ English Skills and Life Skills Lab at Pupils Pragathi High School, Hyderabad, learning to compare, describe, and express ideas with growing confidence.
Through such hands-on learning, children don’t just memorize, they understand and use English meaningfully.
Consistent, activity based practice is key to developing strong language skills. The video features students of Kavitha Vidyanikethan School in Hyderabad participating in Ignis Careers’ English and Life Skills Lab program. Through interactive activities, they are learning third person singular, articles and forms of verbs while building clarity and confidence in communication. Ignis Careers remains committed to supporting schools in nurturing essential language and life skills.

Grade 1 students of Sri Vidhyanjali exploring prepositions like in, on, under, between, and in front of - not from a textbook, but through fun, hands-on activities as part of Ignis’ English and Life Skills Lab.
Learning becomes joyful when children move, act, and discover meaning through play.
There is a lot of investments and donations to school education. Often and do quick fix interventions due to various compulsions.
and please invest in the long term.
Some want tangible products like desks, benches, toilets and classrooms. These are good and should be planned in the long term.
Most of them want employee engagement opportunity and invest around their offices. Most schools around industrial areas and IT parks are crowded with hoardings of corporate benevolence. Nobody ever wants to go 60 kilometers from their offices.
Another easy fix is to donate science lab kits, most of which never even come out of their cartons. Some donate computers, but without any plans to sustain the initiative.
Another sad state is the obsession with digital solutions; give them a few tabs, set up a lab etc. But for learners at the lowest level of skills who are also from under-served communities, they need models, motivation and a guiding figures. They need schools where they are respected and appreciated.
The tradition of learning by rote and obsession with oppressive discipline remove the least bit of belongingness and purpose.
If CSRs or NGOs are interested in genuine change, invest in the long term. Work in schools and communities for 6 to 8 years. That would transform communities and establish a culture of learning, faith in the fruits of education and conviction in the long term outcomes in the community. We have done that in a few villages and communities.
