Annual Sports and Culturals Day 2025 – Jawahar Science College, Neyveli
The Annual Sports and Culturals Day - 2025 of Jawahar Science College, Neyveli, was successfully conducted today in the college seminar hall. Dr. Gift Christopher Dhanraj, Principal, delivered the welcome address, followed by Dr. R. Prabu, Director of Physical Education, who presented the annual report of Physical Education department. Shri Pankaj Kumar, Secretary of Jawahar Science College, offered his felicitations on the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of sports in students' holistic development. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Smt. Kalpana Devi (Secretary, Jawahar Schools), Shri Prabhakaran (Secretary, NLC Schools), Shri. O. S. Arivu (Assistant Secretary, Jawahar Science College), Shri. P. Arulazhagan (Assistant Secretary, Jawahar Schools), Smt. Chitrakala, and Dr. Subramaniyan.
Sports competitions in various games like Volleyball, Kabaddi, Football, Cricket and Athletics were conducted for boys while Kabaddi and Kho Kho were conducted for girls. A total of 728 boys and girls participated in the games enthusiastically out of whom 280 students emerged winners.
The dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners, recognizing their achievements in various sports events. The function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smt. Santhakumari (Physical Training Instructor).

Special Lecture on "Water Wonders: A Geological Perspective"

In view of the celebration of World Water Day on March 22, a special lecture on “Water Wonders: A Geological Perspective” was conducted by the Geology department association “TERRA” in our college-seminar hall on 21st March 2025.

Dr. R S Kumar, Professor, Department of Earth Sciences and Controller of Examination, Annamalai University, was the Chief Guest and delivered the Key note address.

Dr. Sanjai Gandhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, Centre for Postgraduate and Research Studies, Periyar University, Dharmapuri, was the Resource Person and conducted the special lecture.

The Principal of the college, Dr. D. Gift Christopher Dhanaraj, congratulated the program. Earlier, Dr. R. Sakthivel, Head of the Department (i/c), Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, delivered the welcome address, and finally, Dr. B. Thiruneelakandan, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, delivered the vote of thanks. The program was hosted by S. Ananya, a student of II-B.Sc., Geology.

🏆 Annual Sports Meet 2024-2025 - Jawahar Science College 🏆

The much-awaited Annual Sports Meet of Jawahar Science College was inaugurated today at 10:00 AM with great enthusiasm and participation! 🎉

Principal of the college Dr. D. Gift Christopher Dhanaraj, warmly welcomed the gathering, setting the tone for an inspiring and energetic event. The occasion was graced by OS Arivu, GM/HR, NLCIL, and the Assistant Secretary of the college, who felicitated the function. We were honored to have Sri Pankaj Kumar, CGM/HR, NLCIL, and the Secretary of the college preside over the event.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presence of our esteemed Chief Guest, Ln. Dr. M. Rajasekaran, Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, Annamalai University. He delivered a motivating speech on the significance of sports in holistic education, initiated the Olympic torch relay, and proudly accepted the students' parade march, appreciating their discipline and dedication.

The event featured a spectacular march past, the lighting of the torch, and the official declaration of the sports meet open. This was followed by an array of exciting athletic competitions, showcasing the passion, energy, and sportsmanship of our talented students.

"Road Safety Sensitization Programme at Jawahar Science College: Promoting Responsible Road Behavior Among Students"

A Road Safety Sensitization Programme was meticulously organized at Jawahar Science College, Neyveli from February 13, 2025, to February 17, 2025, recognizing the paramount importance of road safety in the lives of students. Spearheaded by the NSS Units and YRC, this initiative aimed to instill a culture of road safety among students and the wider community.

The programme kicked off with a grand inauguration led by Shri. I. S. Jasper Rose, ED/Mines & Services, Land and LTM Project/NLCIL & President/JES, in the Presence of Shri.D.V.S.N. Murthy, ED/Legal, CSR, GH/NLCIL & Secretary/JES, Shri. Pankaj Kumar, CGM/HR/CO/NLCIL & Secretary/JSC, and along with the Principal, faculty, and students.

Dr. D. Gift Christopher Dhanaraj, the Principal, delivered a warm welcome address, paving the way for felicitations by the esteemed guests. A skit on road safety of the life-saving importance of helmet usage was enacted by NSS Volunteers, which made an impression on the students.

The highlight of the day was the Awareness Rally, flagged off by the President/JES, where 100 helmet-clad volunteers on bikes paraded through the college to Kamaraj Circle main bazaar, carrying placards adorned with road safety slogans to promote responsible road behavior.

The programme will continue with impactful activities on February 14, 2025, including a Signature Board Thumb Impression, Mass Pledge-taking ceremony, and a Special Lecture on road safety. The concluding day, February 17, 2025, will feature Slogan, Poster, and Quir competitions for students, marking a fining finale to this Sensitization Programme.

This initiative reaffirms Jawahar Science College's unwavering commitment to social responsibility and championing the cause of road safety.
