Volunteer Voice!

Ramneek Kaur (Volunteer) expresses,"Now it's been one and half year and it's been a long journey. So I was the one who was very shy when it comes to speaking in front of public . But when I found this NGO named Sahyog Welfare Society and started working, it really changed me and my personality from the tip to top, inside out . I have actually gained a lot of confidence and courage to speak . As I want to become a teacher, this platform helps me a lot.

I have shared a lot of memories with the members of Sahyog and learned so many things from each one of them, all the time spent with the volunteers!

The workshops have taught me a lot of new things like how to deal with people around you, how to handle children. I have also gained lot of information about new topics."

Volunteer Voice!

Archie Gupta (Volunteer) expresses,"Hello! My name is Archita Gupta. I am from Lucknow and I came to Delhi to study in University of Delhi. Thought of staying apart from your home seems very easy and we are relaxed too, but after spending months or say few days in another city gives a check between a reality and our expectations. Migration requires many adjustments which an individual has to adopt in her/his life. Same was the case with me, I belong to a city which is full of cultures, delicious food, textile work and mannerism, in short “Nawabon ka Shahar”, and landed up in a city which is very individualistic in its lifestyle, there are variations in taste etc.

I was a very emotionally balanced in class 12th , but when I came to Delhi I became so unbalanced, be it my interpersonal relations or emotional state or study patterns, everything just changed. I was very eager to do an internship, so as to know new people and their behaviour.

One fine day I got an opportunity to join Sahyog, which was a turning point in my life. In the beginning it wasn’t easy for me to balance my emotions, I used to feel homesick at the time of stress and this developed a fear in me of not able to face people around me . From being extrovert I became introvert. But after conducting workshops in schools and interacting with the tiny tots, I got to know about my inner self, eventually I learned to handle people in varied settings. I became extroverted!

Apart from self development I got emotional as well as academic support from other volunteers and seniors. It all operated as a family I could not even realize my subtle development was going on simultaneously. A new kind of persona bloomed out of myself which is very reflective in my life. For me joining this NGO is much more than getting admission in a college in North Campus which is CO-ED."

Gunjan Wadhwa (Volunteer) expresses,"Sahyog is the best NGO I could have ever got! It's not just an NGO but it is second home to me and all the members are family to me.

The heads are extremely good as they listen to you when ever you need. Best thing is there are limited volunteers so you can get to know all the volunteers. Sahyog is very different from other NGOs, their effort towards awareness about Good Touch Bad Touch are genuine and the work they are doing is highly appreciating. I will be in this NGO for as long as I can."

Volunteer Voice!

Anshu (Volunteer) expresses, "Sahyog is like a family where you not only grow as a group but as an individual also. Sahyog touches such sensitive topics that are a major concern for the society and being there you feel worthy, it's like you are doing something for the welfare of the society.

The major reason for me to be a part of this was to grow as I am a very anxious person and have a lot of stage fright but since the first workshop, I have observe a good change in me. While conducting, there is a confidence that I have to make these kids understand and I can do it, which I think I have developed."

Volunteer Voice!

Inderpreet Kaur, Activity Head expresses, "Tracing the beginning when I became a part of SAHYOG, from being a timid volunteer to a confident activity head I have transformed as a person - personally as well as professionally .

Living in a world where only competition matters not what you are, SAHYOG laid my foundation of being a good person and letting my inner personality for what I am, out. SAHYOG has been a phenomenal support to me emotionally as well as professionally .

The inner joy of helping kids with their problems and giving them a way to protect themselves is incredible. For me I wasn't helped with the abuse I faced as a child but when I stand in front of the kids making them realize that they are warriors and they can fight against the odds that they might face, that feeling is unparalleled to any happiness I can ever have .

From solving my stage fright to being a cooperative person and an organized person my experience with SAHYOG has been been blissful .

Being selected as an Activity Head was the best moment for me and was overwhelming .

I have always been an average student, no one has ever showed such trust on me where they bet on me that I CAN - without any doubt.

Having an additional responsibility I have had a boost in my self and my confidence where now I can represent myself as well as SAHYOG anywhere .

SAHYOG is a part of me and I am glad that the learnings from SAHYOG in every aspect is my foundation of life where i stand with pride!

Volunteer Voice!

Sanya Taneja, Former Volunteer expresses, "To me Sahyog isn't just an NGO where we worked as volunteers..
Sahyog has given me a platform from where I've earned respect, dealt with amazing personalities, helped kids not only how to be aware of sexual abuse but also shared a part of our lives to protect them.

As a volunteer, its expected to work in accordance with ethics and certain rules but this NGO have something special that I cannot describe..as it enabled me to express feelings in words..

Nobody takes out time to make their children aware about such sensitive issues, but through such initiative we can hold hands and don't let abuse to reach the stage where nothing can be fixed."

Volunteer Voice!

Sejal Suri (Volunteer) expresses, "Sahyog is not like any other organisations to me . It is something which is close to my heart with which I can connect. The very first thing that I love about Sahyog is that it is unique, it is not like other NGOs. Nobody talks about Child Sexual Abuse (CSA), most people feel that it's a taboo but I am glad that I am a part of this organisation. It feels so good when we actually help others! Sahyog helped me in enhancing my personal growth as well like it gave me confidence. I am proud to be a psychology student and part of this family too!

In the very beginning, my only motive was to get a certificate but now it's not about certificate it's more about exploring my self and to help others in the best possible manner.

PROUD T0 BE A PART OF SAHYOG FAM❤"

Volunteer Voice!

Achint Kaur Gandhi, Volunteer, expresses, "I used to be a very under confident person that I couldn’t even talk in front of a few people. I was very hesitant to speak in front of people until Sahyog was introduced to me. Sahyog changed me and enhanced my confidence. Now, I can express my views freely without thinking that people are going to judge me.
Not only it has enhanced my confidence but I also got to know a lot of about Child Sexual Abuse which I was completely unaware of. I feel really good when I talk to the kids at school and conduct workshops about a very sensitive issue.

Sahyog, as the name suggests cooperation, the Sahyog family has been really cooperative and have encouraged me a lot. I used to be very very nervous upon being asked to present in front of the heads initially and specially when I presented for the first time.
But eventually with practice, feedback from co-volunteers and the heads, I improved my ways of conduction and eventually I gained confidence.

If I compare myself from the day i started presenting and today, I have changed drastically.
Encouragement from the entire Sahyog family has helped me gain some confidence!"

Volunteer Voice!

Priyanka Manchanda, Assistant Vice President expresses, "I have always made one thing explicit that Sahyog has been like a 'doobte ko tinke ka sahaara for me'. It has been not only a confidence booster for me but it has also acted like an anchor point in my career path. I joined Sahyog during my emotional turmoil and days of finding my identity after leaving school and joining college. Like most students, I was struggling to become someone more than a Roll Number and Sahyog gave me this platform to relive and explore myself. From soon having a name and the satisfaction of lastly doing something productive, it is now years to my association with Sahyog. From being a volunteer to being the Activity Head within 2 months of joining and working for 22 months straight and then being the Senior Activity Head for approximately an year, I have loved most of my involvement. I am currently the Assistant Vice President and the designation sounds exciting. More than the designation, the added responsibility has given me a chance again to work on my worth and the value addition that Sahyog has done!

Personal benefits are never ending! I have got stronger bonds, enormous confidence, knowledge, sense of self-worth, identity, network and connections, love and recognition from my social circle including my faculty.

Talking about the academic and professional benefits, mentions of Sahyog have helped me grab interesting internship opportunities and perform various roles. In the middle of 2018, I knew my broader career interest and Sahyog helped me narrow it down to Training and Development. With a lot of workshop conductions for school students and prepping the volunteers to present, I somewhere discovered my interest and skills in the area. Along with this, my experience has helped me survive many practicals and theory papers most of the times! I would have been somewhere because of Sahyog too but doubt about the beauty of the other place. The grass is greener on my side, definitely!"

Volunteer Voice!

Mantasha Siddiquï (Senior Volunteer) expresses,"My experience with this home started in its emerging years. I have grown, fallen, made mistakes, but enjoyed the exploring years of my work with the Sahyog family. I have seen volunteers joining and leaving because of some more important stages of life. I too have mixed experiences but that is a part of life.

I remember the respect and love offered to me by the root figures of the organization. Today, when I look back at the years spent working here, it brings tears in my eyes because the way I took a climb, my confidence got enhanced, it was a thing in dreams but it was the product of trust and expectation of my upholders.

I really wish that each human being must get such platforms to learn, prove and showcase their talent, fulfilling their expected roles towards their society and country. Being a volunteer here has taught me how to showcase my work, my abilities with confidence!"
