अगर आपके कम्‍प्‍यूटर या लैपटॉप में विंडोज़ xp या विंडोज़ Vista ऑपरेटिंग सिस्‍टम इंस्‍टॉल है तो 8 फरवरी के बाद आप जीमेल का उपयोग इन सिस्‍टम्‍स पर नहीं कर सकेंगे। दरअसल, गूगल ने अपने वेब ब्राउजर वर्जन 53 पर जीमेल को ब्‍लॉक करना शुरू कर दिया है।

कंपनी ने इस सूचना की पुष्टि करते हुए कहा है कि 8 फरवरी 2017 के बाद क्रोम ब्राउजर वर्जन 53 में जीमेल नहीं काम करेगा। ब्राउजर का यह वर्जन विंडोज एक्‍सपी तथा विस्‍टा ऑपरेटिंग सिस्‍टम पर काम करता है।

ऐसा इसलिए किया जा रहा है क्‍योंकि माइक्रोसॉफ्ट ने एक्‍सपी और विस्‍टा के लिए ऑपरेटिंग सिस्‍टम सपोर्ट बंद कर दिया है। ऐसे में जीमेल यूजर्स तथा क्रोम यूजर्स पर हैकर्स के हमले का खतरा भी काफी बढ़ गया है। यही कारण है कि किसी भी प्रकार के खतरे से बचने के लिए गूगल ने यह कदम उठाया है।

गूगल ने विंडोज एक्‍सपी और विंडोज विस्‍टा के यूजर्स को सलाह दी है कि वे अपने कम्‍प्‍यूटर सिस्‍टम के ऑपरेटिंग सिस्‍टम को नए वर्जन से अपग्रेड कर लें। ऐसा न करने पर हैकर्स के किसी हमले पर गूगल द्वारा किसी भी प्रकार का टेक्‍नीकल सपोर्ट नहीं दिया जाएगा।

हालांकि गूगल ने यह भी कहा है कि एक्‍सपी और विस्‍टा के यूजर्स चाहें तो किसी थर्ड पार्टी ब्राउजर के जरिए जीमेल अकाउंट का उपयोग कर सकते हैं। लेकिन ऐसी स्थिति में अकाउंट की सुरक्षा की जिम्‍मेदारी गूगल की नहीं होगी।
