S. Chandrasekhar got Nobel prize for his Chandrashekhar limit. He used to drive 200 miles twice a week from Wisconsin to Chicago University to teach a class that had two students.

He could have canceled that course if wanted. Students were Lee and Yang, who won Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957.

That is what a good teacher can do.
