Sri Aurobindo School Everyday 200 children in the impoverished area of Bhatti Mines, India, receive an education as an alternative to forced labor.

The community of Bhatti Mines, India is one of the most impoverished areas in Delhi. The 30,000 residents live in slum like conditions that lack adequate shelter, clean water, electricity, schools, health services and economic opportunity. The people who live in these conditions face extreme poverty and unemployment. The children of Bhatti Mines, are forced into child labor. Santosh and Archana Singh, the founders of the Sri Aurobindo School (registered under the 1860 society act), have devoted themselves to educating the children of the slums since 2002, improving the children's present lives and giving them hope for a better future. This nonprofit school relies on donations from the global community to fund the operating costs which includes, but is not limited to, rent, teachers salary and supplies. In the latest global recession, The Sri Aurobindo school is suffering, receiving diminishing support form the local and global communities.
