Every year thousands of teams from throughout the USA and from about

35 other countries participate in the program. For last 13 years NASA have been sponsoring an Odyssey of the Mind Long-Term Problem.

Your artwork should tell one story in normal view, but reveal a hidden image, message, character or second story through its shadow or lighting effect. Students are encouraged to think creatively about how shapes, layers, cut-outs, folding, textures or object placement can transform ordinary art into an interactive visual experience. The challenge is not only to create beautiful artwork, but also to use imagination, observation, design thinking and experimentation to surprise the viewer through light and shadow.
