On 26 April 2016, the entire collection at the Natural History Museum in Delhi was destroyed in a fire. The consequences were devastating and its valuable collection of animal fossils and stuffed animals was turned to cinders.
Policymakers should strengthen public policies, update legal frameworks and reinforce national, regional, and international cooperation to reduce risks and build capacities to handle emergencies.

This painting mirrors a mythical moment of universal cataclysm from the Devi-Mahatmaya. Vishnu lies in his trance-sleep on Shesha, the multi-hooded cosmic serpent floating on the primordial waters, while Brahma, the creator is seated on the pericarp of the lotus springing from his navel.
As the two demons, Madhu and Kaitabha, with their arms out-stretched get ready to assail him, Brahma, with folded hands in a posture of reverence, sings the Brahma-stuti to the goddess Yoganidra-Mahakali, the ten-armed supreme deity. The figure of the goddess is in accordance with her form described in the Devi-Mahatmaya.
