On the occasion of World Population Day, Population Foundation of India, with the support of the Foundation, launched the campaign in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.

The campaign was flagged off with a Mobile Van that will travel across 150 villages, taking engaging films, jingles, IEC materials, and community conversations on delaying first pregnancy, preventing child marriage, and informed family planning choices directly to people.

A powerful highlight of the launch was 200 ASHA workers taking a pledge to champion informed reproductive health choices and raise awareness in their communities.

Together, we're working towards a future where every young person is empowered, every pregnancy is planned, and every family has the information they need to make informed choices.

Speaking at the World Population Day 2026 celebration organised by the Indian Association for the Study of Population (IASP) and the Population Research Centre, Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), Poonam Muttreja, Executive Director, Population Foundation of India, highlighted the importance of placing the aspirations, health, and rights of young women and girls at the centre of India’s development agenda

To mark World Population Day, Population Foundation of India (PFI), in collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Foundation, organised the 3rd District Working Group (DWG) Meeting under the Umeed Project on 13 July 2026 at the Collectorate, Gonda.

The meeting was chaired by Smt. Priyanka Niranjan, IAS, District Magistrate, Gonda, and brought together key district stakeholders, including Shri Dayanand Prasad (Chief Development Officer), Dr. Sant Lal Patel (Chief Medical Officer), Additional Chief Medical Officers, the District Programme Manager (NHM), Mr. Prabhat Kumar (Mobius Foundation), and frontline health workers to strengthen convergence and accelerate efforts towards voluntary family planning and informed reproductive health choices.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of PFI's SBCC campaigns, “Itni Bhi Kya Jaldi Hai?!!!” and “Desh Badlega Jab Mard Badlega”, along with the unveiling of campaign posters, awareness films, and jingles designed to spark conversations and encourage positive behaviour change.
The District Magistrate also flagged off a Mobile Van that will take family planning and reproductive health messages to 150 villages across three blocks of Gonda district, extending the campaign's reach directly to communities.

By bringing together government leadership, development partners, and frontline workers, the event reinforced the collective commitment to ensuring that individuals and couples have the information and support they need to make informed reproductive health choices.

Pedals, performances, and powerful conversations. 🚲🎭

On the eve of World Population Day, Population Foundation of India, along with State Health Society Bihar and A. N. College, Patna, organised a Cycle Rally and Nukkad Natak to spark conversations on voluntary family planning, informed reproductive health choices, and preventing teenage pregnancy.

Through storytelling and collective action, students, healthcare professionals, and community members came together to champion the right to information, choice, and quality reproductive health services.

Because every informed choice builds healthier families, stronger communities, and a brighter future. 💙
