Govt. Model School, Nayagram Block

Our school became the winner in the Global Handprint Day Video Challenge organized by CEE on 27th November 2025. A total of 44 videos were submitted by 28 schools across India. It became a platform for dissemination of environmental education where children enthusiastically explain "why they" switch off lights, close taps, compost waste, and why every small action matters. It is clear that their understanding runs deep. Their confidence and clarity remind us that our collective work as educators is taking root in the most meaningful way. Congratulations! to all the staff of our school especially Shri Santanu Patra, Shri Aritra Debnath, Shri Somananda Santra, Shri Dayalhari Das, Shri Swapnatit Maji, Shri Bidyut Tudu and Shri Suman Patra who assisted our students who actively participated in the Global Handprint Day Video Challenge.

Members of Paribesh Bandhab Mancha, Barrackpore led by Shri Tapas Biswas visited our school on 13th November 2025 and interacted with both our staff and students. Shri Biswas and his team also invited our staff and students to participate in the Paribesh Mela scheduled to be held from 12-14 December 2025. The vibrant interactions with the team members encouraged our students to concentrate more on their local culture, traditions and environment.

Students of our school secured the first position in the district level Role Play Competition (11th November 2025) organised by DIET, Jhargram and qualified for the state level competition which will be held on 26th November 2025. Heartiest congratulations! to all the participants in the Role Play Competition and the guide teacher, Shri Swapnatit Maji for their tenacity and perseverance. Best wishes to the school Role Play team for their upcoming state level competition.

Commemoration of 150 years of "Vande Mataram", the timeless composition of 'Sahityasamrat' Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay. Both staff and students participated in the mass singing of "Vande Mataram" on this auspicious occasion (7th November, 2025)

Our student, Jit Mahata (class VIII) secured 2nd position in the Drawing competition ('Kha' Bibhag) organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal on 1st November, 2025. Congratulations! to all the participants from our school.

Delighted to share with you all that the GenCAN team of Govt. Model School, Nayagram Block has finally received their certificates, memento and kits sent by the CEE for their exemplary performance in the Climate Action Leadership Challenge (2024-25) at the national level. Recognising the collective efforts of both students and teachers will not only inspire their continued engagement in future but also alleviate to some extent the unheard sorrows arising from their non-participation in the award ceremony and nature camp at Panchmarhi, Madhya Pradesh in September this year. Thanks a lot to the CEE for this great recognition of our school at the national level. Heartiest congratulations! to the mentor teacher, Shri Santanu Patra, the GenCAN team of students, students including hostel boarders, all the teaching and non-teaching staff of our school and, last but not least, to our Guest Teacher, Shri Dayalhari Das for all their hard work and perseverance. বিদ্যালয়ের ক্যাম্পাসে দয়ালহরিবাবুর উদ্যোগে ও ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সহযোগিতায় গড়ে উঠেছে ফুল ও সবজির বাগান। সার্থক হতে চলেছে সবুজ ক্যাম্পাসের স্বপ্ন। বলা বাহুল্য যে হোস্টেলের খাদ্য তালিকায় স্থান করে নিয়েছে এই সবজি বাগান থেকে উৎপাদিত সবজি। পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি GenCAN project এর মাধ্যমে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা হয়ে উঠেছে তাদের পারিপার্শ্বিক পরিবেশ সম্পর্কে অনেক সচেতন যা তাদেরকে এরকম একটি সবুজ ক্যাম্পাস গঠনে উদ্বুদ্ধ করছে। আগে যেখানে ছিল লতাপাতায় ঢাকা জঙ্গল এখন সেখানে গড়ে উঠেছে ফুল ও সবজিতে ভরা বাগান যা শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থীদের ও অভিভাবকদের কাছে চিত্তাকর্ষক।

Newly-constructed dining hall, inaugurated by the Hon'ble Sub-Divisional Officer, Jhargram, serves both the purposes very effectively - accommodating almost all the students of class V-VIII for midday meal (MDM) and 75 hostel boarders for their lunch and dinner. Thanks to our staff - Shri Satyagopal Paira, Shri Sajal Kumar Mahata, hostel caretaker - Shri Manas Mahata and hostel matron - Smt. Sanjibani Mahata who monitor the entire process and ensure smooth functioning.
