π *World Malaria Day Celebration at School Campus* π¦
World Malaria Day was observed with great awareness and enthusiasm at the school campus under the guidance of Gurinderjit Singh Ji.
Following the directions of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Satvinder Pal Singh and District Epidemiologist Dr. Rakesh Kumar, the awareness campaign was organized under the leadership of Director Achla Bhalla and Principal Amit Sabharwal of Dr. Asa Nand Arya Model Senior Secondary School.
On this occasion, District Mass Media Officer Tarsem Lal was specially invited to spread awareness about malaria prevention and control. Addressing the seminar, he explained that with the rise in temperature, the risk of mosquito-borne diseases increases significantly, and malaria is one of the most serious among them.
He informed that malaria spreads rapidly during the summer and rainy seasons and is caused by the bite of the female Anopheles mosquito, which usually bites at night. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water such as rainwater collected in ponds, wells, canals, fields, and around homes.
Therefore, maintaining cleanliness and preventing water stagnation is extremely important.
He further shared that the common early symptoms of malaria include fever, headache, chills, and excessive sweating, which may appear within 10β15 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. In such cases, one should immediately visit the nearest government hospital or health centre, get proper medical consultation, and avoid self-medication.

Director Achla Bhalla and Principal Amit Sabharwal emphasized that protecting ourselves from mosquitoes is essential. They advised everyone to wear full-sleeved clothes, use mosquito nets, repellents, creams, and oils, and ensure that no stagnant water is left around homes and surroundings.
They also highlighted that building a malaria-free society requires everyoneβs active participation.
Only with collective efforts can we achieve the goal of a malaria-free Punjab.
The Principal expressed gratitude to the Health Department for sharing such valuable information and assured that the teachers and students of the school will continue spreading health awareness in society.
