Neither did most of the children I taught — until I stopped teaching math, and started teaching numbers.

Ten years, three books, and one discovery my own Guru handed me almost by accident: a number isn't something to memorise. It's something to see.

This is the story of Number Friends, a five-year-old named Aaroosh who shouted "It's 5!" before I'd taught him a single sum, and a boy who now solves addition with his eyes closed.

I spent a month teaching prime numbers.
I have not written a single definition.
Not one formula. Not one method.
The words HCF, LCM, prime number — never spoken once.
A regular Math class goes like this:
Definition. Method. Practice. Homework.
The child learns how to calculate.
Never know why it exists.
In two weeks — forgotten.
Last week a child raised her hand mid-activity.
"Ma'am. I think these numbers are special."
She had no name for them yet.
But she had already discovered them.
That is the only moment real learning happens.
Everything else is just information transfer.
And information without experience?
A key with no lock.

I am teaching a new Grade 5 batch right now. We are going to cover HCF, LCM, prime factorisation — the kind of number theory that separates children who truly understand mathematics from children who are simply managing it.

"Why did you not shred this properly? Why did you pass it without doing your job?"

This wasn't a scripted argument. It was a spontaneous explosion of scientific reasoning from a middle-school student in my class.

It happened because we took the human digestive system out of the textbook and built it physically in the room using a plastic bag and a packet of chocolate.

As Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman once noted: The name is not the knowledge. The watching is.

Yet, schools force children to memorize terms like Oesophagus and Duodenum before they ever experience the wonder of how a system actually functions. We are testing rote memory, building consumption rather than deep thinking.

I wanted my students to understand systems reasoning. So, I assigned every student a role—Molar, Salivary Gland, Stomach, Small Intestine.

A polythene bag carrying the chocolate moved through the class. When pieces upstream weren't shredded properly, the "Stomach" spontaneously turned and scolded the "Molars".

That unprompted argument was the most important moment of the class. It was the scientific method—alive, loud, and arguing in my classroom.

By the time the noise settled, a Grade 3 student fully understood the entire sequence. He went home that evening and taught the entire digestive system to his mother for a full hour. The science had left the room and entered the world.

The problem in education is sequence. Information arrives before experience. The definition arrives before the wonder.

If we want a generation of minds to lead frontiers like biotechnology and AI, we must stop treating science as a transcription exercise.

The formula can wait. The discovery cannot.

Your Child Got 99%. So Did the Algorithm. Now What?

There's a moment every parent knows. The report card comes home, the score is near-perfect, and there's a quiet pride — we did something right.
But we want to ask you one honest question: What was that 99% actually measuring?
If the answer is "how well my child remembered what the teacher said" — we need to talk. Because in 2026, that is precisely what an AI can do, for free, in milliseconds, without sleeping, and without ever getting tired.
The world hasn't just changed. It has sorted itself into two kinds of learners. Those who were trained to retrieve answers — and those who were trained to think.

The Trap Nobody Talks About
Most coaching classes today are quietly running what we call a "mark factory." They have cracked the exam code: identify important questions, drill shortcuts, repeat until the child can reproduce the right answer under pressure. And it works. The marks come. Parents are happy. The child moves on.
But something else happens too — something invisible. The child learns that education is about performance, not understanding. That a question only has value if it appears in the exam. Struggle to solve a difficult questions, is waste of time, if it does come in exam.
This is how we accidentally train children to be biological search engines. And search engines just got a billion-dollar upgrade.
