UNFOLD
Design and build competition.
It's a dynamic platform that challenges architecture, interior, and product design students and professionals to embrace the digital revolution reshaping the industry. In this competition, participants are tasked with harnessing the power of digital methods to both design and build innovative architectural elements, ranging from products and furniture to building facades and kinetic installations.
The core concept behind UNFOLD is to inspire participants to explore the endless possibilities offered by futuristic digital-computational tools. These tools, encompassing advanced software for design and cutting-edge machines for fabrication, represent the vanguard of architectural innovation. By integrating these tools into their design and fabrication processes, participants can unlock new realms of creativity and efficiency.
The architectural landscape is evolving rapidly, propelled by technological advancements such as CNC machines, waterjet cutters, robotics, and 3D printing. In a developing nation like India, where the architectural industry is undergoing unprecedented growth, these tools hold immense potential to revolutionize the design and construction process. UNFOLD aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to harness the full potential of these technologies and drive innovation in the built environment.
Through research, experimentation, and ex*****on using a diverse range of materials, participants have the opportunity to bring their visionary designs to life. Whether it's creating unprecedented forms that challenge conventional notions of space or developing sustainable solutions that redefine the urban landscape, UNFOLD empowers participants to shape the future of architecture in tangible ways.
Ultimately, UNFOLD is more than just a competition; it's a catalyst for change, sparking a new era of architectural exploration and creativity. By encouraging participants to push the boundaries of what's possible with digital technology, UNFOLD paves the way for the emergence of a bold new style of architecture that reflects the innovative spirit of the 21st century.

History of representation (also history of architectural representation)
The relation of architectural practice with this software and with the computer-aided manufacturing techniques makes this a learning opportunity. The software themselves become a place for learning and also as tools to teach. This is where methods of representation become relevant.

This video was made to illustrate how, in film, we see or are shown things that are not as advertised. Films are notorious for creating false belief or superstition or even false expectation but here Film or the film industry has made a victim out of an entire city.

Continuous Machinic Cinema
“a sneak preview of a future of cinema, proposing a continuous cinema that is freed from both the spatial confines of the movie house and the literary expectations of narrative—told by and to non-human machines.”

This film references a Hong Kong that was still a colony of Britain ( the film was made in 1995). Here the identities in the post-colonial world are of importance (just as in Berlin symphony of city, the idea of Berlin or identity of Berlin between the wars and before N**i occupation is significant). Hong Kong was handed back to China (a concept which, to me, borders on the ludicrous) to which it had little parallels in terms of identity. The cities (architecture) become more relevant where the change of guard from the "British empire/government to the autocratic and borderline dictatorship state-china- took over. The influence of this factor (forced or otherwise) has a say in the way Hong Kong is today. Evan relates this to the 'ghost' and 'shell' aspect where one gets little control in this city-level change of identity and thus little control in own identity.

Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis portrays the life of a city, mainly through visual impressions in a semi-documentary style, without the narrative content of more mainstream films, though the sequencing of events can imply a kind of loose theme or impression of the city's daily life.
