Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu said the company does not require a college degree for any role and actively removes the requirement if it appears in job postings.

In a post shared on X on December 2, Vembu wrote, “At Zoho, no job requires a college degree and if some manager posts a job that requires a degree, they get a polite message from HR to remove the degree requirement!”

Vembu highlighted a growing trend in the United States where talented students are choosing to skip college and join the workforce directly, driven by rising education costs and changing employer attitudes.

Calling it a “profound cultural shift,” he said the trend empowers young people to avoid heavy education debt and build careers early.

He urged Indian parents, students and companies to take note, adding that he works closely with a young technical team in Tenkasi with a median age of 19.

Their “energy and can-do spirit is infectious,” Vembu wrote.
